A Requiem For Democracy.

Corporatism just took a very large step forward in its battle to control national governments. TPP secret discussions, locked well away from public scrutiny, have finally been signed on the dotted line. In Auckland New Zealand out-of-touch Trade Ministers and corporate bureaucrats just put their thumbs to their noses and ignored millions of Internet users, plus millions of others, and signed the TPP agreement. At the same time, New Zealand police, the corporate world's government sponsored minders, were intimidatingly knocking on the doors of “known activists” demanding to know about any plans they may have to protest this extreme censorship plan.
TPP is seen as an integral part of TTIP, and all part of the corporate czars plans to rule the world, over-riding any sham of democracy that we may think we have. These so called "trade agreements" put the corporate world in the driving seat, placing them in a position to challenge any legislation made by governments, that they consider might hinder their drive for profits. Health and safety regulations, minimum wage guarantees, and so on, can be challenged if the corporate greed machine deems them to be a drag on their drive for gold.
The ratifying of these power-monger agreements can be seen as a requiem for democracy, another step in the march of power away from the people to the upper echelons of the faceless bureaucrats of the corporate world, its natural direction in capitalism. We have always argued that parliamentary party elections were an illusion, a smoke and mirrors trick to make you believe you have democracy, now it has become even less, it is no more than chewing gum and candy-floss TV entertainment.
How can we solve the problems in our world, when the control lies in the hands of those who wish to plunder the earth and exploit all its population? We have to shift the power away from the faceless accountants and corporate bureaucrats and into the hands of the people. We can't do this unless we smash the existing system of capitalism.

The Ceaseless March Of Corporatism.

An appeal from Global Justice Now, or should we take this as a warning, if we don't stop the march of corporatism in its tracks.
Next week, the Scottish Parliament will be discussing TTIP’s little brother CETA, the Canada-EU trade deal that includes all the same worrying things that TTIP does.
If CETA is passed it could threaten public services in Scotland, the moratorium on fracking, and some of Scotland’s most iconic produce, such as Stornoway Black Pudding and the Arbroath Smokie.
So, we’ve teamed up with 38 Degrees to run a petition calling on the Scottish Government to oppose CETA.  Click here to sign the petition.  And if you’re in or near Edinburgh on Thursday morning, please join us at 11.15am outside the Scottish Parliament to hand in the petition.
CETA, like TTIP, will hand power from democratically elected governments to big business.  And CETA is due to be passed this year, ahead of TTIP.  Help us stop CETA.

Many thanks,
Liz

Corporate Fascism Or True Democracy?

The financial Mafia and multi-national corporations, work relentlessly to ever increase their power over the various states, attempting to standardise legislation so that it works in their favour, allowing them to run roughshod over anything that may hinder their ever more brutal plunder for profit. No country will be able to pass legislation that may hinder the corporate world's projected profits. If they do so, they can face costly legal battles in special courts that favour the corporate world. Health and safety measures could be challenged, environmental protection can be deemed to jeopardise their future profits, and the people can go to hell in a hand cart.
For far too long the financial Mafia and the corporate fascists have fattened their bank accounts by sucking the blood from the people, spreading misery and deprivation in their wake. They have hi-jacked the world's resources and used its people as mere commodities. The time has surely come when we put a stop to this system that survives by the plundering of the many by the few. This is a man made system of corporate greed, it can be destroyed and replaced by a system of justice, sustainability and co-operation, a system that sees to the needs of all our people. However, this can only be done by the people, when the people have that desire for justice for all. Have we reached that time?
A sample of what is in store for us, from SumOfUs:

Huge news: The final TPP text has just been released to the public. And just as we thought, it's full of give-aways for big business.
To go into effect, the deal must be ratified by legislatures in countries that include Canada, the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand. If we can convince even one of those countries not to ratify, the deal could be dead -- but we're really running out of time.
SumOfUs is one of the only organizations in the world with enough global reach to launch and support grassroots campaigns everywhere where widespread opposition to the TPP exists. We need your help to make opposition to this deal as strong as we possibly can. Will you chip in £1 to help stop the TPP?
Yes, I'll donate £1 to help stop the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
It's absolutely astonishing that a deal this huge would be negotiated entirely in secret. 792 million people live in countries that are party to this deal, yet this is the first any of us have officially been able to see the full text. And in keeping with the secrecy of the deal, the text was released at midnight in New Zealand when they thought most of the world wouldn't notice.
We don't think you should need a law degree to make sense of the deal that will affect every single one of us. So we need to make sure the public knows that this deal will drive up drug costs, weaken workers' rights, and put corporations on the same level as sovereign nations, able to sue in special TPP courts to overturn protections for consumers and the environment.
Will you donate £1 to help stop the Trans-Pacific Partnership?
If you chip in today, here’s just some of what we’ll be able to do together:
Create easy-to-understand, sharable explanations of what's wrong with the TPP to share on social media. Work across party lines to get conservatives and progressives who oppose the deal working together. For instance, in the U.S., top candidates in both parties have come out against the TPP, putting enormous pressure on Congress to say no.
Target MPs who are up for re-election in Australia and New Zealand and Canada's new government.
The TPP has never been so close to becoming a reality, but we can still stop it if we all pitch in. Will you donate £1 today?
Yes, I'll chip in £1 to help stop the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

Thanks for all that you do,

Jon and the rest of the SumOfUs team

The Creeping Disease Of Corporate Fascism.

We all know that we live under the illusion of democracy, governments are in the pockets of the corporate world and the financial Mafia. However, if the world of big business gets its way, even that veneer of the illusion of democracy will evaporate. The big corporate players have come together and are in secret negotiations with EU governments, to remove completely any shred of power that governments may still have, they are trying to put the final nail in the coffin of the voice of the people. Governments will be held to account by the CEO and shareholders of big business, should they attempt any legislation that might in any way hinder their drive for increase profits. They want to get their grubby plundering hands on all public assets, privatisation will be the law, NHS, education, social services, all must be open to them for profit. Any legislation that might improve working conditions or wages will be challenged, and governments fined, as it may hit the  profits of the corporate greed merchants. Corporate fascism will be the only power, unless we wake up and bring this whole stinking, corrupt, unjust, exploitative system to an end.

Something exciting is about to happen. On Saturday 10 October thousands of people from across the EU and the USA will be taking to the streets to protest against dangerous trade agreements that could put more than 1 million of us out of work, ruin public services like our NHS, and allow dangerous chemicals and hormones in our food.  Probably the best known of these deals is TTIP which is being negotiated between the EU and the US. There’s a Stop TTIP action in Glasgow starting at 9.30am outside the SECC. Please come along and join in. www.globaljustice.org.uk/events/stop-ttip-action-glasgow
We’ll be there celebrating the enormous amount of names added to the Europe-wide petition against TTIP which closes in four days. If you haven’t already you can sign the EU-wide petition here. It’s reached almost 3 million signatures! Acting together, we can beat TTIP.
Best wishes, Guy Taylor Trade campaigner
P.S. Another dangerous trade deal is CETA between the EU and Canada. It could lock-in privatisation of public services and open up our government to huge lawsuits by corporations. If you haven’t already, tell your Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) to vote against CETA.

Corporate Fascism's Strangle Hold.

Every day it becomes ever more clear that the world is not controlled by governments, but by corporations. More and more the big corporations and the financial Mafia, shape the structure of our societies, they dictate to governments the policies that they want, and these policies are never for the benefit of the citizens of those countries. All is to maximise profit for their shareholders, anything that gets in the way of that aim, has to be removed. This corporate fascism is not in its initial stages, they are at the point of dotting the i's and crossing the t's to finalise their total control over our lives, irrespective of what government you vote in to power. Today we have the illusion of democracy, tomorrow we will real corporatism. The shape of our world will be in the hands of CEOs in the marble halls of corporate power. If you're naive enough to believe that you can somehow stop this by voting in some messiah and a bunch of their cronies, you will be sadly disappointed. Governments are the paid managers of the corporate plan, the are there to give the corporate fascism the semblance of legitimise, and to control the civil population.
An appeal from Global Justice Now:
Remember the secret corporate courts that allow corporations to sue governments for protecting their citizens?
Following pressure from thousands of people like you from across Europe, the European Commission has now admitted that these courts are bad in their current form. However, the EU now wants to sign a lesser-known toxic trade agreement leaving our government open to huge law suits for things like raising the minimum wage or stopping fracking.

Take action now to stop the corporate courts.

Today is one year since the EU and Canada finished negotiating the Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement (CETA). Our elected representatives in the EU parliament will vote on CETA next year. We need to remind them that as they have already rejected secret corporate courts, they will also have to reject CETA.

Tell your Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) it’s time to reject CETA now.

CETA is TTIP's little brother. It poses major threats to our public services, local jobs, the environment, and to the safety of our food. We’re facing raft of dangerous trade deals, and as CETA is the furthest progressed, it is vital we stop this toxic deal.

Best wishes

TTIP Must Be Stopped.

The corporate/financial Mafia hope to have TTIP all wrapped up and functioning by October. That's not a lot of time, we can't wait until then, and then start to complain when TTIP moves in and kicks us in the teeth. We have to continually keep pushing to get this take over by corporatism flushed down the tubes.  Sign the petition HERE:
This appeal from 38 Degrees:
Big corporations are staging their biggest power grab yet - with TTIP, the dodgy EU-US trade deal. But this week, we have a chance to deal a blow to those trying to get the deal passed without a fuss.
On Wednesday, MSPs will vote on whether to reject the worst parts of TTIP. They’ll be voting on the part of the deal that lets private companies like McDonald’s sue our government if they raise the minimum wage. [1] The vote won’t stop TTIP. But it’ll send a very clear message - that together we’ll stand against corporate power.
We need our MSPs to be there, and to vote the right way. The vote’s on Wednesday so we don’t have much time. Can you email your MSP today? Click here:
https://secure.38degrees.org.uk/msps-stop-TTIP
It would be a nightmare scenario for corporations is every MSP turned up on Wednesday. They don’t want to have to defend their flagship trade deal. So together, let’s make sure every MSP is there. And let’s get as many as possible to listen to their constituents and vote the right way.
It’s no surprise that public pressure against TTIP is growing across Scotland. This dodgy deal could make more NHS privatisation inevitable. And it could hand American corporations the power to sue our Scottish government if Holyrood passed laws they didn’t like. Plans to de-privatise our services would be scuppered. [2]
The vote this Wednesday is a huge opportunity for us to raise the political stakes on this dodgy trade deal before next year's Holyrood election. The more of us who email our MSPs, the clearer the message: we won’t sit back while our democracy disappears into corporate hands.
Please click here to tell your MSP to turn up on Wednesday and vote to on principle against TTIP:
https://secure.38degrees.org.uk/msps-stop-TTIP

Thanks for being involved,
Jen, Nat, David and the 38 Degrees team
NOTES
[1] The report being discussed on Wednesday is the result of months of work by the parliament to find out whether TTIP really threatens our democracy - and the conclusions are stark.
The report recommends that ISDS, the part of the deal that lets companies sue our government for ‘lost profits’, should be scrapped. It says that TTIP could harm our environment and food safety, and could allow runaway privatisation of our services. MSPs will be voting on whether they agree with this report.

TTIP Is Still There.

TTIP still growls away in the dark corridors of power, its proponents wheeling and dealing, slicing and dicing, between themselves and the corrupt politicians. We can only expect them to come up with a plan that will allow the corporate juggernaut roll mercilessly over any illusion of democracy that still remains.
There will be an international campaign of action on April 25th. Across Europe people will be coming together to voice their opposition to this attempt to cement corporatism on to our backs, giving the corporate bosses full control over any legislation that they may consider to be harmful to their profits.
On Saturday 18 April people across the world will be protesting against “free trade” deals that are undermining our democracy. In Europe people will be taking part in 100s of actions to stop TTIP, the “trade” deal between the EU and the US.

With the election coming up in May it is important that we make sure TTIP is on the agenda. People are organising exciting actions across the UK to raise awareness about TTIP and stop this corporate grab of our democracy.

You can find out about existing actions or organise your own on our website.

People are standing up to “free trade” deals globally. If we stand together, we can defeat these assaults on our democracy. Please join us to protest on 18 April.
Best wishes,

Cancer Care, For Profit!!

Even before the greed monster TTIP, has been released from the bowels of corporate voracity, onto the general public, we are seeing the NHS being sliced and diced for the corporate friends of our millionaire cabal that sits in the Westminster Houses of Hypocrisy and Corruption. Within that cesspool of self interest, there are over 140 Lords with business interests in private healthcare, plus at least 80 MPs with similar interests, that would benefit from the privatisation of the NHS. How do you think they will be pushing the debate?
The paid political liars that keep spouting, "The NHS is safe in our hands", have been laughing at us, as the clink their champagne glasses with their bosom buddies, the corporate leeches, while throwing NHS contracts around for favours.
Behind closed doors the biggest sell-off in the NHS has been rolling along, and now it is out in the open. Staffordshire was planning a £1.2bn sell-off of cancer and end-of-life care without proper patient consultation. But now a key leaked document reveals all:

--------Not only is this the first billion-pound NHS privatisation, it is the first time that it has been deemed acceptable to put care designed to meet the needs of our most vulnerable patients on sale.
Uniquely for a privatisation on anything of this scale, there has been no public consultation, simply a series of weak “engagement” events led by paid “patient champions”. For the past year unpaid patients have not been able to have their say. Thanks to the brave person who shared the documents, now they can.
The background is this: Staffordshire commissioners want to hand the management of all care for cancer and end-of-life patients to a private company, a “prime provider” that will take responsibility for the delivery of care, subcontracting and performance management.-------

Tomorrow's World, fashioned By TTIP.

Are we taking TTIP serious enough? Where is the noise? This is no ordinary piece of crap legislation, this is cementing the foundations of corporatism, this trashes completely any illusion of democracy that any naive individual my have been clinging to, this gives corporations power over elected governments. It will mean that those sitting in boardrooms of powerful profit driven corporations will determine the shape our society will take. Anything that stands in the way of their ability to rape and plunder the planet to maximise their profits and power, will be swept away. Anything in the public sector that could be turned to a profit, will be privatised. The full spectrum, from health, education, to public spaces and what we eat, all will be decided on the basis of profit. It paints a picture of a "Tomorrow's World" that will be unbearable and unsustainable.
 Tomorrow’s World!
See the fat cat’s grinning smile
as Corporate Capitalism runs amok,
Chasing profit as it goes
firing millions of ordinary folk.
Raping and polluting land after land,
starting bloody wars.
Toxic waste, sweat shop wages
and oil covered sea shores.
Where have all the flowers gone
beneath this ozone free sky?
To join the birds, to join the fox
on yonder plutonium field to die.
Mercury fish, strontium lamb
trees that never show a leaf,
radio active beaches, toxic streams
good lean BSE-antibiotic beef.
In a world of epidemic, plague and famine
it’s bottled water and chemical food.
Of course, it’s all tested on rats and mice
so you know its got to be good.
Beneath a sky that’s always black,
hurricane winds and endless drought,
its oxygen masks for the toxic air,
corporate profit’s what its all about.
This is an appeal from 38 Degrees:

Hi,
Have a look at this:
https://secure.38degrees.org.uk/ttip-scotland-petition

The text of the TTIP trade deal has been leaked, and it’s confirmed one of our biggest fears: our NHS in Scotland is at risk.
And it’s not just the NHS. All our public services could be in the firing line from this dodgy trade deal - as well as food safety and environmental protections. We can stop TTIP, but we need to persuade our politicians to defend public services against big business.
It’s now less than 60 days to the election. Hopeful new candidates are desperate to win votes - the perfect opportunity to push TTIP to the top of their agenda. To make that happen, every candidate from every party needs to know:  TTIP is a huge threat, and they must oppose it.
With huge public petitions in every constituency, they won’t be able to ignore the issue. It just takes a couple of minutes. Will you sign the petition for your local area?

Let's Kill TTIP.

TTIP is grinding on, its draconian undemocratic legislation is being fine-tuned in the dark corridors of corrupt secret power. Away from the eyes and ears of the public, politicians and moguls of corporate power are sorting out the world to suit big business, and to hell with any form of. or any hint of, democracy. You are not privy to how big business will use you to benefit profits. Your elected officials will have no control of, nor power over, the corporate world, Corporate power rules with a free hand, and will have the power to alter any legislation brought forward by elected politicians. If big business doesn't like it, it wont happen. If big business likes it, and we don't, they win, so tough luck for us.
Don't just sit around until it happens, organise against TTIP, protest loudly and often, it is corporatism write large.
The following is a video on regulatory cooperation in the TTIP negotiations, a joint project of SumOfUs, Corporate Europe Observatory (CEO), LobbyControl, Seattle to Brussels Network and Campact.

Kill TTIP.

Global corporatism creeps ever forward, TTIP is still not dead. A lot has been done by publicity from various public/social networks to highlight this power monster that is sitting on our shoulders. It is probably the biggest threat to our NHS and other social services, that we have yet encountered, it is the death-knell to that façade, that is labelled democracy, in this society of illusions that we live under.
We must continue to shout about this creeping corporatism that threatens to take the reins of power from national governments and into the corridors of power of the corporate boardrooms. A place where people disappear from the equations and are replaced by a plus or minus on the profit balance sheet.
On Thursday we have a rare chance to scrutinise the EU-US trade deal TTIP in Parliament. TTIP is being negotiated in secret. But thanks to campaigning by people like you, our elected representatives will get a chance to air their concerns about TTIP.

We only have 3 days until the debate in Parliament. Please write to your MP to help stop TTIP.

The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) represents a huge shift in power from ordinary people to corporate interests. It could give corporations new rights to sue governments in dodgy off-shore courts as well as weaken public services and labour and environmental standards.

Take action now to say no to TTIP.

By the time TTIP is debated in Parliament on Thursday the World Development Movement will have become Global Justice Now. We look forward to continuing to campaign with you for a world where resources are in the hands of the many not the few.

Together we can defeat dangerous trade deals like TTIP.

Best wishes,

A Monster FromThe Dark Corridors Of Power.

The corporate monster TTIP is not yet killed off, but killed off it must be if we want any form of control over our lives. This is the total domination of all aspects of our lives controlled from the boardrooms of the greed driven corporate world. The power shifting arrangements are being secretly discussed in the dark corridors of corporate power, away from the prying eyes of the public, who will be the victims of this coup. Any sliver of the illusion of democracy will vanish if we don't stop this takeover bid by the profit driven greed merchants.

Are you free on Saturday 31st January? 38 Degrees members in Glasgow are getting together to campaign on TTIP. That’s the dodgy EU-US trade deal that could further privatise our NHS and allow corporations to sue our government. [1]
On the day, 38 Degrees members will be handing out leaflets and chatting to local people in Glasgow about TTIP. They’ll also be collecting signatures for the EU-wide petition. The group will be able to provide leaflets and petition sheets, so don’t worry about bringing anything!
If you’d like to find out more about TTIP, so you can feel comfortable talking about it, there’s lots of information here:
http://38degrees.org.uk/ttip
The idea on the day is to spread the word about TTIP and make sure it’s an issue local politicians can’t ignore. So the more of us that turn up, the more people we’ll be able to speak to, and the further we can spread this really important message.
Here are the details:
What: Leafleting and talking to local people about TTIP and collecting signatures for the EU-wide petition
When: Saturday 31st January, 11am-2pm,
Where: Meet outside Hillhead library, 348 Byres Road, Glasgow, G12 8AP
Please RSVP here so that local 38 Degrees members can get an idea of how many to expect:

The Privatisation Of The NHS Glides Ever Forward.

Even before TTIP, the corporations charter, has been ratified, the big greed merchants are targeting the NHS, and all with a nod and a wink from their Oxbridge millionaire friends, sitting in the Westminster Houses of Hypocrisy and Corruption. No matter the public statements to the contrary, being uttered by the residents of that Westminster millionaires club, the sale of the NHS is on their agenda, TTIP is just making sure it is written into law. Only by a massive uprising of anger and protests of the ordinary people will it be stopped. The sale of the NHS is in the interests of the millionaire class, and guess who is looking after and legislating on the NHS? That's right, it's the millionaire class of course. Only you can stop them, it is your NHS, you have a fight on your hands to keep it so.

Incredible! Over 80,000 of us have signed the petition telling NHS England to keep mega US weapons company, Lockheed Martin, out of our healthcare system.
Let's make sure we go into 2015 with a bang (after all, Lockheed Martin is used to those). Can we get to 100,00 signatures by the end of the year?
Here's what you can do:
Forward the email below to at least five of your friends.
Click here to share this campaign with your friends on Facebook.

Let's make 2015 the year we kick corporate power out of the NHS,

Martin, Hanna, and the team at SumOfUs.org

Share email:

Friends,
American arms company, Lockheed Martin, is targeting huge chunks of our NHS! If successful, the world's biggest weapons manufacturer could be in your GP's office, handling your records and scheduling your appointments.
Lockheed Martin isn’t content with raking in billions from selling weapons to countries right around the world -- now it wants a slice of our National Health Service.
Right now, it’s sniffing around a huge £1 billion contract to supply services to our GPs and family doctors. But the NHS hasn’t decided yet who will make it through the bidding process, so we’ve still got a chance to stop this arms company from profiting from the healthcare our families receive. But we don’t have long to make our voices heard.

Join me to tell the government and NHS England to stop Lockheed Martin from bidding on the NHS contract. Gun-runners don't belong in the NHS! http://action.sumofus.org/a/weapons-NHS/
