Haunted.

The drowning recently of 500 or more migrants off the coast of Greece fades from the system's media, but the sorrow and anguish of the families and friends of those unnecessarily drowned will linger forever. The sad tragedy is that they were not the only ones to drown in this inhumane manner, it is practically a daily occurrence, murder by legislation, but the insane system that at present shackles us, will persist in this policy of borders and controls, while they create mayhem across the world. No borders, one race, the human race one world, our world.

Poster for the state murder of migrants in Pylos, which was posted up in the centre of Athens:

BASTARDS

(cops, judges, politicians, journalists, fascists)

sleep soundly!

The executioners are innocent.

The dead are guilty.

They will haunt you

St. Imier.

150 years on, St Imier is thriving

July 19th sees the first sessions of a five-day celebration of anarchist thought in the Swiss border town that hosted the visionaries of a definitive, and historic, break with Marxism.
St Imier is as far as history tells, one of those legendary events which would mark the moment in which anarchism finally nailed itself to the extra-Parliamentary path. In the years since Proudhon famously asked What is Property? and declared himself an anarchist in 1840 the movement had, for the most part, been travelling alongside and debating with more statist positions, most famously through the First International, to which famous libertarian intellectuals such as Mikhail Bakunin and Peter Kropotkin belonged.
But in the wake of the defeat of the Paris Commune in 1871, amid increasing political rancour between Bakunin and the more authoritarian tendencies rallied around Marx, both Bakunin and a second leading anarchist, James Guillaume, were expelled causing an irrevocable split.
The following year two organisations, the Italian Federation and Swiss Jura Federation, went on to organise an alternative international congress – St Imier. A veritable who’s who of the time’s famous anarchist organisers from Errico Malatesta to Jean-Louis Pindy were part of delegations from Spain, Italy, France, the US and Switzerland, which passed four key resolutions:

  1. A rejection of the increasingly authoritarian and centralised nature of the First International,
  2. A pact of friendship to stand against such authoritarian behaviour in future,
  3. A declaration that the proletariat’s first duty was to destroy all political power, including the party form,
  4. That the task of emancipation could only be carried out through the free federation of all producer groups, based upon solidarity and equality.

That declaration, spread across the continent in the following weeks, months, and years, would go on to form a core of anarchist thought in Europe.

Survival.

Everybody surely knows that there is something dangerously wrong with our present economic system. It has in the past, present and will in the future fail miserable to see to the basic needs of all of humanity and the survival of humanity itself. If you are a member of that strata of people at the receiving end of the economic system’s free hand out of poverty and deprivation, you’ll understand what I’m saying.

Why does this system persist despite in vicious disregard for the vast majority of humanity? It spawns wars across the globe from South America to Africa, the Middle East to Europe, wars that only the privileged few gain from, but the vast majority suffer the consequences the deaths, injuries and devastation. We are prisoners of a system owned and controlled by a small number of very rich individuals and massive international monopoly corporations. The only result from such plundering and pillaging the Earth’s resources is to deny the vast majority of humanity a decent standard of living.

This system persists because of our subservience to the illusions peddled by its propaganda machine and the control by the various states that manges the population with laws, rules and regulations that perpetuate the existing status-quo. Change will only come when we start to see through the illusions and help others to join us in dispelling myth and replacing it with facts. Awakening to the fact that our acceptance of this system of injustice and savage brutality is not laid down in tablets of stone from some immutable design, it is human designed system and can be changed only by human intervention on a massive scale. We have to abolish borders, erase racism, grow our solidarity for all repressed people and build on co-operation, sustainability and justice for all. We accept the inequality and injustice and hand it down to our children and grandchildren or we stand up, join hands, get organised on a massive scale and make the changes we need and are due, as we are the creators of all the wealth on this planet. Organised solidarity is our winning weapon.

Misery.

It always amazes me how our government has money to throw around at making people's lives miserable or unbearable, but can't find any money to make people's lives better. There's no money to improve the quality of life for our health workers, our kids suffer because there is no money to improve the education system. It can however find money to higher a floating prison to house immigrants. The Bibby Stockholm, named after the founder of the company John Bibby, who made his money in the slave trade, is a barge designed to hold 200 and will be used by the UK government to house 500 migrants. Barge is a misnomer, prison is the correct name, as the inhabitants of this hellhole will not be allowed to walk about on the port. The government flags this up as money saving but are paying this private company a sum of £1.6 billion of our tax money, to manage this arrangement. Money to create misery

Then there is our "defence" budget, the UK government has announced it will spend an "EXTRA" £2.5 billion on army munitions, this comes on top of the £5 billion boost to our war spending. All that money will have no other purpose than to destroy other people's towns and cities and kill thousands of people we don't even know. More money to create misery.

Where is the pouring of vast sums of our tax money on making the lives of the ordinary people better? We are continually faced with austerity, poverty shadows our children, our elderly, and our most vulnerable. wages stagnate or fall, living standards are continually eroded, and we are told by the wealth privileged, to "hold our nerve"
We know there is a better way to shape our society, to one that sees to the needs of all our people. A society not based on war, exploitation and profiteering, but built on mutual aid, co-operation and sustainability. That change will not come from the wealthy and very comfortable privileged parasite class, but will only come from the people themselves. We are the ones that create all the wealth on the planet, we are the rightful beneficiaries of that produce, but we will have to stand up and take it, it will not be gifted to us.

Class War.

An interesting pamphlet from Trindni Valka free to download. Anarchist literature always welcome, spread far and wide, if you can, download and print and distribute, spread our ideas.

In Ukraine, the Czech Republic, the UK, Italy, Syria, France etc… All over the world there is a voice against capitalist wars and also against capitalist peace. Only class war can end this terror and that is what we mean when we say No War but the Class War!

The new pamphlet contains 14 texts by various groups and individuals. The aim is to explain and affirm the meaning of antimilitarism, internationalism and revolutionary defeatism. The publication will be presented for the first time at the Balkan Anarchist Bookfair in Ljubljana. The pamphlet is also available for download in PDF.

Democracy!

Democracy has never seen the light of day in this patch of land known as the United Kingdom. We have moved from divine rights of monarchs to a so called constitutional monarchy, where a person elected by the people goes to the monarch to ask permission to form a government. That same monarch signs the death warrants of individuals in certain places known as crown dependencies. So it should come as no surprise that the subservient elected government should continue this system of control to keep the power and wealth where it is. This requires total control over the population. Hence all the draconian measures to ban protests, make strikes illegal and censor what you can say or read. The following quote gives some idea of how UK democracy works.

The decline of free speech in the United Kingdom has long been a concern for free speech advocates. A man was convicted for sending a tweet while drunk referring to dead soldiers. Another was arrested for an anti-police t-shirt. Another was arrested for calling the Irish boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend a “leprechaun.” Yet another was arrested for singing “Kung Fu Fighting. A teenager was arrested for protesting outside of a Scientology center with a sign calling the religion a “cult.”

Recently we discussed the arrest of a woman who was praying to herself near an abortion clinic. English courts have seen criminalized “toxic ideologies as part of this crackdown on free speech.

All this makes it easier for the state to shut you down if it doesn't like what you are saying or doing, hardly the hallmark of democracy. Of course all this clampdown on freedom of expression requires a massive surveillance system, which the state already has but wishes to push this further in their favour. They are now calling for the end of encrypted messages, so that they can snoop on anything and everything you might wish to send to friends and family. It is all backed up by those boys in blue, known for racism, homophobic attitudes and abuse of power.
If we want a democracy then we have to get rid of the state system, the power structure that reinforces that system, we have to end this system where wealth means power. Democracy can only survive in a free and equal system of mutual aid and co-operation a system without borders, leaders and the profit motive. We could try the one system that stands for these things, it's called anarchism.

Class War.

A little message lifted from Act For Freedom Now.

 Destroy Borders. Destroy Slavery!

Xenophobia, hierarchy, and racism
cannot be fought with fratricidal wars
sworn on bibles or patriotic flags

In breaking the silence and
indifference of the civilised we want to
widen the space for revolt, increase the
possibilities for direct attack on the
pillars of this world.

The objectives can be seen everywhere
the concentration camps,
the airline companies that deport
‘aliens’, the ‘waiting zones’, the slave
traders, the lines of communications,
etc. etc.

Only through direct solidarity
will we be able to refuel the social
tempest of class war, sabotage and
relentless attack where the divisions
into nationals and foreigners, legal
immigrants and aliens dissolves in
joyous collision against the enemy
that oppresses us all.

Vagabond hearts, enemies of all
borders, the world-wide of insurgents

Borders.

Probably one of the most shocking videos I have ever watched. Borders kill, deaths crossing Africa, deaths crossing Europe, deaths crossing the English channel, deaths crossing from South America to North America and in all these cases it is the borders that are the cause of the deaths. The various states and their desire for power, wealth and resources create these borders. Imaginary lines drawn in blood by the duped population drunk on the poisonous wine of patriotism and all at the dictate of the rich and powerful parasites who brew that wine and hold the whip. Reading of, and viewing these deaths, surely we must ask why have these borders, who gains most from these blood soak imaginary lines, certainly not the ordinary people. They are the ones that flee the various states and their brutal regimes, they are the ones fleeing the turmoil of powerful nations foreign policies. When do we cry, in a loud and anguish voice, "enough is enough" and bring down this whole stinking brutality known as states.

Note the casual and callous way the thugs in uniform walk among the dead and injured, devoid of any humanity..

UK Inhumanity.

Once again we are witness to the UK imperialist's hypocrisy. Just some months ago the UK condemned Rwanda for failing to investigate human rights violations, now we have fascist Priti Patel lavishing UK tax payers money to enrich that same country. The authoritarian duo Patel and bumbling Boris have decided to ignore international law and deport asylum seekers more than 4,000 miles to a country they have condemned for human right violations. This cruel, inhumane travesty of justice must be opposed with the strongest pubic voice of indignation and anger.
On Saturday, April 16th. Glasgow, like most cities across the country held protests against this policy, and will continue to show their disgust, anger and downright outrage at this vicious denial of human rights by this dehumanised authoritarian regime.
Some photos from Glasgow's protest against UK's extravagant unlawful and cruel policy of inhumanity.

As usual, the people come up with their own ideas of easily made effective banners that say what they mean.

Borders.

From an early age the state and its propaganda section, attempt to get you to love that little patch of land that they have with force claimed and built an imaginary wall around, it's called a border. They need you to support them against some other state who might wish to shift the border in favour of their own, power, interests and control. You are trained to love this little patch of land of which you own none, you are trained to love the history of those who claimed this land as theirs and set up those invisible walls called borders. You are meant to have an unstinting love for its flag and its leaders, and patriotism is the poison they use to attempt to intoxicate you into a state of being prepared to give your life for their purloined piece of the planet. These borders are sacred to the powers that be and encourage a dislike and distrust of those on the other side. Trying to cross these borders can cost you your life, you can be herded like cattle in detention centres, classified as an "alien" devoid of any rights. Humanity demands that we bring these imaginary walls crashing down, there is only one race, the human race and we are all part of that race and live on the one planet which belongs to no one, or belongs to us all. Borders are weapons to protect the rich, privileged and powerful, and attempt to create differences between the various groups of people trapped within their boundaries. Freedom and democracy means no borders, and freedom of movement.

Patriotism

No, I shall not die for the fluttering flag,
if truth be known, ’tis nothing but a multi-coloured rag
held aloft by some foolish hand
inciting worker and peasant to kill
on some green and wooded hill,
peasant and worker from some other land.

Nor shall I shed blood for the fluttering rag
that brings out fools to stand and brag
of brutal deeds painted grand,
deeds where rustic and craftsman lie so still
killed by my brothers' misguided hand.

No allegiance have I for the Nation
this man made autocratic creation
that divides my brothers in a world so small,
binds us to a country's cause, right or wrong,
bids us follow its drum, sing its song,
then sheds our blood in some border brawl.

No, I'll be no slave to flag or nation,
have no ear for power oration,
though its iron heel is on my breast,
my back feels its leather thong,
at patriotism's barracoon, I'll be no guest.

The following from Enough is Enough:

This summer we will organize a No Border Camp, somewhere* in the Netherlands.

Originally published by Indymedia NL.

This summer we will organize a No Border Camp, somewhere* in the Netherlands. A week of actions, networking, meetings and discussions about all aspects of repressive migration policies – detention of refugees, racist border controls, deportations, militarization of borders, exploitation of migrant workers, etc. – and the connections with other areas of struggle, such as climate, anti-racism and anti-militarism. The international Abolish Frontex campaign is an important spearhead for the camp.
In the No Border Camp we want to bring the undocumented and the documented together. During the camp, interesting workshops are held and we discuss how we can all take a stand and organize resistance against the harsh Dutch and European migration policies.

Note the dates in your agenda; further info will follow.

Ideas for workshops or actions? Can you help organize this? Mail us: nbc-2022@riseup.net.

* location to be announced shortly before the start.

NATO.

It is always good to hear some news that our NATO friendly and Western imperialism biased media doesn't mention. So I'll post Loam's comment in full. In posting this it should not be seen as my endorsement of the Russian invasion into Ukraine, more a sample of the American backed Western NATO organisation's continual push east. It seems that when it comes to, arms shipments, most states believe in "No Borders" but for migrants, borders are to be impenetrable.

April 2nd. 2022 4:54 p.m

Armored vehicles and tanks are currently being reloaded in the Greek trading port of Alexandroupolis in order to transport them to Eastern European NATO countries. Railway employees do not want to support this and are now being pressured by employers.
The Greek commercial port of Alexandroupoli is an important loading port for both goods and fuel because it is close to the Greek-Turkish borders, connected to the port terminal by sea and has an international airport. It is also connected to the railways and the main European motorways.
Since the beginning of military events in Ukraine, more than 3,000 US soldiers and hundreds of armored vehicles and tanks have been transferred to the Greek port of Alexandroupoli. From there it continues by train to Romania and other Eastern European NATO member states, according to Greek news site In.gr reported. This is what the article says:
“American tanks belonging to the NATO forces, unloaded from the huge ferry ‘Liberty Passion’ in the port of Alexandroupoli, were transported by rail through the Evros prefecture to Eastern European countries. The tanks of the NATO troops were transported by rail transported from Alexandroupolis via Bulgaria to Romania.”
The Greek media site Imerodromos reported on April 1 that the further delivery of armored vehicles from the Greek port of Alexandroupolis to the borders of Ukraine is currently in jeopardy, since some employees of the railway company TrainOSE refused to “actively support arms transports”.
Now the pressure on the employees of the machine factory in Thessaloniki is said to have increased to move to Alexandroupolis to help out there.
The Information Portal of the Greek Communist Party (KKE) informed adding that US armored vehicles had been delivered to Alexandroupolis by sea and then transported to Poland. On March 30th, “three full trains in this direction” had already been moved via rail traffic. The Greek railway workers loudly refused media details, to reload the material and “to provide technical support for the transport”. The KKE reported that employers “relyed on the employment contract, which states that employees are to work where the company needs them”. According to the KKE:
“For about two weeks there has been pressure on the employees of the machine factory in Thessaloniki to go to Alexandroupoli. We condemn the employer’s threats against the TrainOSE workers who refused to take part in the maintenance of the trains and took off the NATO tanks to the port of Alexandroupoli.”
After the intervention of the local unions, the threats against the railway workers had stopped. A dozen local associations published a resolution promising not to take part in the passage of the “war machine” through the country, according to information from Imerodromos. The resolution states:
“It’s a mockery when an employer says: ‘You don’t have to care what the trains transport, it’s your job and you have to ride it.'”
The pamphlet goes on to say: “We will not be complicit if the war machine rolls through our country’s territories. No use of the railways to transport war material abroad.
The locomotives used for this purpose are to return to their base. No threat to a railway worker who refuses to agree to the transfer of NATO war material from our country.”
The KKE resolution was supported by a dozen and a half local unions, including “chemical industry workers in northern Greece, private employees of the city of Thessaloniki, construction workers, workers in telecommunications and IT, the food industry, local authorities and municipal companies, hotels and public utilities”.
