You Get Cyanide, They Get Gold!!!

We in this country don't here much about Romania, our babbling brook of bullshit, the mainstream media, is more interested in Prince Andrew being stopped by the police, or trying to persuade us that, to kill more Syrians would be in our national interest. However, in Romania there have been massive protests against what is the largest open pit mining project in Europe, and shale gas fracking. I previously posted about this criminal act HERE. The mining project is to extract gold from a beautiful mountain area, and in the process, devastating the area and wild life, poisoning the land and surrounding rivers with cyanide, among a cocktail of other toxins. When we allow a handful of very rich people to destroy our natural world, poison our rivers and water table, so that the same rich handful of people can get even richer, the you know that we live in an insane system. Destruction on a massive scale for GOLD? This blatant destruction and plunder of a country by a bunch of bloated parasites has to be stopped, The people of Romania have made it clear they don't want this to happen, and they deserve our support and solidarity. Please spread this around your networks, blogs, websites, or by what ever means available. We have to do this ourselves, we can't expect that babbling brook of bullshit, the mainstream media, to to get involved.

Cluj. 08.09.2013 (click on image for source)

-->
But the people said NO. This NO was for gold mining with cyanide, this NO was for shale gas fraking, this NO was for many actions that could damage, for ever, the nature that still surrounds us.
In the first Sunday, the 1st of September, we were more than 15.000 in total, in all the cities that were protesting against gold mining and shale gas fracking. We were more than last year, in 2012, when, for more than 40 days, we protested against the Government. Two Governments fell, and the third, the present one, made more illegal and bad things to the people, than those before it. Including the Roşia Montană project, and shale gas fracking.

Fox Doesn't Like Obama.

It would appear that Fox News doesn't like Obama, it is quite refreshing to here such an anti-war message, even if it is from such an obnoxious corporate entity.

Syria Chemical Attack, -- Who Dunnit??

The Western hounds of war are baying for more blood, and useing the chemical attack in Syria as their excuse. To them the truth of who used those chemical weapons is of no real interest, it is the best pretext they can find to do something that they have wanted to do for many a year, bring about regime change in Syria. The Syrian people have the "misfortune" of living in a country where the state does not let  the mighty dollar control its natural resources. So it has to be changed. Fighting a proxy war by backing a ragbag of militias seemed like a good option, but it seems that the Asaad state apparatus is now getting the upper hand. So they have to up their game and stick the boot in, to help the Jihadist get in, and do their dirty work. The Obama/Cameron/Hollande hounds of war wanted a quick fix, get in and bomb the shit out of the regime before people found out who actually used the chemical weapons. However, it is not going that way, and the longer the delay in their use of "smart, democratic" cruise missiles, which only kill bad people, the more information keeps coming out that it was not the Asaad regime that used the chemical weapons. It is now looking more and more that it was our nice friends in the Syrian Free Army. That ratbag of everything from religious fundamentalists, to fascists, from jihadist to power crazy militias, that we have poured affection and millions of dollars into, don't seem to have too much of a problem of gassing their own. Is this the birth of democracy in Syria? Anything backed by the Western corporate greed machine, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, etc. does not bode well for the people.
The Obama administration has selectively used intelligence to justify military strikes on Syria, former military officers with access to the original intelligence reports say, in a manner that goes far beyond what critics charged the Bush administration of doing in the run-up to the 2003 Iraq war.
According to these officers, who served in top positions in the United States, Britain, France, Israel, and Jordan, a Syrian military communication intercepted by Israel’s famed Unit 8200 electronic intelligence outfit has been doctored so that it leads a reader to just the opposite conclusion reached by the original report.
The doctored report was picked up on Israel’s Channel 2 TV  on Aug. 24, then by Focus magazine in Germany, the Times of Israel, and eventually by The Cable  in Washington, DC.
According to the doctored report, the chemical attack was carried out by the 155th Brigade of the 4th Armored Division of the Syrian Army, an elite unit commanded by Maher al-Assad, the president’s brother.
However, the original communication intercepted by Unit 8200 between a major in command of the rocket troops assigned to the 155th Brigade of the 4th Armored Division, and the general staff, shows just the opposite.
The general staff officer asked the major if he was responsible for the chemical weapons attack. From the tone of the conversation, it was clear that “the Syrian general staff were out of their minds with panic that an unauthorized strike had been launched by the 155th Brigade in express defiance of their instructions,” the former officers say.
According to the transcript of the original Unit 8200 report, the major “hotly denied firing any of his missiles” and invited the general staff to come and verify that all his weapons were present.
The report contains a note at the end that the major was interrogated by Syrian intelligence for three days, then returned to command of his unit. “All of his weapons were accounted for,” the report stated.

The Resistance Is Alive And Growing.

There were two stories recently, that the babbling brook of bullshit, our mainstream media, gave banner headlines to and then dropped, giving the impression that nothing else was happening there. One was Cyprus, when it applied for a bailout and was informed that the publics bank accounts would be plundered to help pay for the financial Mafia's gambling debts and the other was when the people of Brazil exploded in anger at injustice and corruption.
Well the people of Cyprus are still suffering, in the second quarter of this year, its economy contacted by 5.9%, its eighth succesive quarterly contraction. And it gets worse, according to that gang of financial thugs, the Troika,(ECB, European Central Bank, EC, European Commission, IMF, International Mankind Fuckers) The Cypriot economy will contract by 8.7% for the year 2013.
 Cypriot protester holding banner
What that means for the people of Cyprus is unemployment, poverty and deprivation on a massive scale. It means people struggling to survive and living conditions rapidly deteriorating. However that is no longer news, it all falls into the plan of the people's daily trudge to sweatshop Europe.
The other story, the rovolt of the people of Brazil, well for a month or so we got articles and TV pictures hundreds of thousands of people on the streets of the cities across Brazil, and then it would seem that tranquility returned to Brazil. Well it hasn't, the fancy parades of Independence Day were disrupted by protesters, demanding an end to corruption and better public services. The traditional Military parade in Rio de Janerio was interrupted as protesters shouted anti government slogans, and the speech, in the capital, Brasilia,  by President Dilma Rouseff, resulted in clashes between the police and protesters where tear gas was used and there were many arrests. People are still looking for every opportunity to voice their anger and disgut and a system that is riddled with corruption and injustice. The friendly football match between Brazil and Australia saw anti-government slogans appearing outside The Mane Garrincha Stadium.
Brazil protests in Rio de Janeiro
So it goes on, daily struggles to end this system of exploitaion, poverty, corruption and greed, a system controlled by the corporate world, where the people are of no concern in the calculation of profits.

€200 A Month,--Economic Recovery!!!!

I know I go on about the planned European sweatshop economy, but it is all falling into place. All the European countries are moving in the same direction but at a  slightly different pace. Greece is just the most advanced in the grand plan. In the UK with wage freezes/cuts, and inflation romping along at around 3%, wage earners here have seen the income reduce by approximately 10% since the "crisis". Where will they be in another 5 years or so? Unless we change the system, we the ordinary people, are on a downward spiral to deprivation. It is not the lack of wealth, it is the system. Like I said, Greece is now well established as on par with some third world countries, In that country, on offer are IT jobs at €200 per month, without insurance. This is a European country, try talking about economic recovery on that salary.
Keep Out! - The 78th Thessaloniki International Trade Fair
Inside the 78th Thessaloniki International Trade Fair the prime minister is giving a speech as prime minister have done for decades on this date. I will not bother to follow the speech, either in person or on TV as Samaras's public addresses are usually leaked well in advance and amount to a little more than  a series of soundbites linked together by the slightest of rhetorical devices, more akin to bloated TV commercials than anything Demosthenes would recognise.
"The economy is coming round, recovery is on its way, the sacrifices of the people are finally paying off."It's old, old stuff made all the more unconvincing by the fact that every prime minister has sad the same since the financial crisis began in 2009. Yes, the rate of decline in the Greek economy has slowed down to "just" 3.8% but unemployment is still rising, set to reach 30% by the end of the year if the latest Greek trade union research is to be believed.
       On the other hand while Samaras was addressing the nation, safely ensconced behind thousands of riot police the people next to me in the cafe are discussing a mutual acquaintance;
"They're looking for a IT graduate, part time, 5 to 9 and you know what they're offering?   200 euros a month, without insurance, 200!"
This is is the economic success story that the government and the foreign press are so happy to promote, a country in which salaries do not even begin to cover living costs, even for people with years of experience and advanced qualifications. An economy where millions are unable to start a family or even afford basic health care or a pension. Even if the books balance by the end of the decade the macroeconomic damage being wrought will last for a generation.
By midday the prime minister will have returned to Athens, his presence having left behind little than a bunch of high sounding promises and a lot of disgruntled commuters. The Trade Fair once again has become the political plaything of the leadership which fails to see that turning a city into war zone every year is not the best way to encourage international trade and especially not Greece's image abroad.

We Will Remain Ungovernable.

It is strange, when you get your info from that babbling brook of bullshit, the main stream media, the Australian election is all about the egos of the main party leaders and the crap they spout. All that appears to be happening is these party leaders slag each other off, and call it electioneering. However, there are other views to this election, and it is only right that their voice should be heard.

We will remain ungovernable

Fri, 09/06/2013 - 22:48 -- Anonymous (not verified)
The current border policies of the ruling elite are cruel, oppressive, revanchist. Over the course of the elction campaign we have vandalised the electorate offices of Kelvin Thomson, Martin Ferguson, Josh Frydenberg, Anna Bourke, Brendan O'Connor, Simon Crean, Mark Dreyfus, Kelly O'Dwyer, Mike Symon and Andrew Robb; they are complicit.
The politicians and bosses have driven wedges between us, trying to convince us there is an enemy in people from across the sea. The real enemy, of course, is those who seek to rule us. Our sisters and brothers, the 'boat people', have been asking for our solidarity for years. They have petitioned, protested, hunger-striked, self-harmed and suicided. But help has not come. The only rational response left is to riot.
We are privileged citizens in occupied land and we stand to benefit from this racist approach. But this won't do. We don't accept this reality and we never will. It doesn't matter who we are. What matters is that we resist. That we show resistance is possible. It's the right – the only – way to act in such terrible times. In doing so we hope to inspire others to break the spell of passivity, together we can turn the world upside down.
We stand by the rioters, the 'boat people', the border-hoppers and 'illegals' in this land and throughout the world. We stand by them til all the prisons are ash and the borders finally broken.
Whoever is elected, we remain,
Ungovernable

In The Name Of A Free Syria!!!

A story to grotesque to accept, but in a war where some of the factions are religious nut cases, anything is possible. I have no way of verifying this story, I first read on VoltaireNet, but here it is:
"Following the broadcasting of the images, distributed by the Free Syrian Army and echoed by the US and french services, of the massacre in Ghouta, Alaouite families of Latakia have filed a complaint for murder.
Some of these videos were filmed and posted on Youtube before the events they picture [1].
They show children suffocated by a chemical intoxication that can’t possibly be sarin gas (the latter provokes yellow drool, not white drool).
The children do not correspond to a sample of the population : they are all almost of same age and have light hair. They are not accompanied by their grieving families.------"

The Determination And Ingenuity Of The People.

It never fails to amaze me, no matter how hard the state bears down on the people, they always fight back. However hard the state repression is, there are those who will fight back, resist, circumvent, short-circuit, the state's brutality, and do whatever is possible to reach out for that freedom, which the state will always try to deny.

  Keli Squat.
While the Greek state is now rampant fascism, and does is best to shut-down all free spaces by attacking and evicting squats across the country, the ingenuity and determination of the people comes to the fore. In that land of Troika repression and deprivation, the state, in July 2013, evicted the Keli squat in Igoumenitsa. However it appears that the people had other ideas, and it has been re-occupied on the 3 September.

 Ioaninna Municipality.
On Thursday 5 September, in Ioannina in North West Greece, and Heraclion in Crete, the people showed solidarity with those evicted from the squats all over Greece and occupied the Municipality Buildings in both towns. So the fight goes on, brutal repression met with organised, determined resistance. The fight will only stop when the state has vanished and is forgotten in the fog of history.

How Much Profit In A Child's Illness?

As the ConDem bunch of millionaires spout their usual crap about the NHS being safe in their hands, another NHS hospital is being set up to be run by a private company. The George Elliot Hospital in Warwickshire has been given the nod to go into discussions with a private company to run its affairs, at a profit of course. Last year the Hitchingbrooke Hospital in Cambridgeshire had the dubious honour of becoming the first NHS hospital to be run by a private company. So this year we have another, privatisation by creep. Two hospitals in the NHS system being run privately and for profit, no doubt it will be deemed such a success by our millionaire cabal, and their corporate parasitic friends, that there will be a gallop towards privately run hospitals within the NHS, until the NHS is privately run in its entirety. Above the entrance of every hospital will be the motto, "We Can Heal You, But Only If Profitable."
The agenda never changes, everything to be run by corporations, no public services, no public assets, everything at a profit for our parasitic shareholders. Soon anything with the word “social” attached to it will be deemed evil, to utter such a word will be seen as worse than racism. We must all honour and worship profit, bow down before the altar of “the economy”

Spectacle Amidst Austerity.

The Thessaloniki Annual Trade Fair has come around, this is when the Athens puppets of the Troika put on a show in another city. Teacher Dude gives an excellent review of the coming event.

In years gone by the political leadership would take the chance to make lavish promises and announce grand public works in the city. Indeed this approach proved so popular that five PMs in a row announced that, unlike their tardy predecessors, they would ensure that Thessaloniki's promised subway would start the following year.
Despite the fact that the country has yet to reach budget targets and is faced with the prospect of requesting yet more bail out cash, government officials and their friends in the media have once again started making promises that public works project, long stalled for lack of cash will resume, a minimum guaranteed income will be introduced and the country will be flowing with milk and honey before the month is out.
On the other the list of those unhappy with New Democracy and PASOK's austerity measures continues to grow and after five years of economic contraction, broken promises and despite claims that the worst is over few believe that Athens is in a position to say no to its creditors demands for yet more cuts.
So the stage is set for a potentially violent showdown on Saturday when the prime minister will give a speech surrounded by anything up to 8,000 police and the streets fill with angry Greeks.

Union Struggles In Iraq.

All the news we get from Iraq, that country that the "coalition of the willing" bombed, brutalised and destroyed, in the name of so called "Western democracy", is of death and roadside bombings. Our view gets distorted by this single line "news" that we get from that babbling brook of bullshit, the mainstream media. However, the people of Iraq are not all blowing each other up. People are working and fighting for better conditions, unions are organising to protect their members from the same exploitation that we get in the "Western democracies", they show the same solidarity in those struggles, the working class is universal, just as is the exploitation.

Photo from one of the actions
According to the reports from FWCUI and the union of leather workers around 200 employees, including both daily- waged and contracted workers, have been dismissed without due notice by the administration of the State Company of the Leather Industries. Many of the workers have had at least six years long service by the time of dismissal. Workers and their union are mobilizing to pressure the administration to rescind this decision.
As a state-owned company the employer responds to the Ministry of Industry, however when the workers contacted the Ministry they were told that it was the decision issued by the administration and not the Ministry.

Let's Abolish Slavery!!!!

When ever the powers that be talk of a rapidly growing economy, you can rest assured that it is growing on the backs of the poor, that growth is being feed by the life blood of people. Wealth accruing in the bank accounts of the rich is always being stolen from those who produce that wealth. In this type of economic system there are those who create the wealth, with little or no gain to themselves, and those who gain the wealth with little or no effort effort from themselves, I believe parasites is their proper title.
An appeal from Walk Free:
It’s 3:15 am in Bhimnagar, India. With the family’s newest infant addition latched to her side, Kalawati* wakes up her husband, six-year-old daughter, and eight-year-old son to eat breakfast – a small handful of rice. The meal won’t satisfy anyone’s hunger but it’s all Kalawati’s children will eat until 1pm. They’re not heading to school; the whole family needs to begin their 18-hour work day at the brick kiln before the sun rises.

Today will be the same for Kalawati’s children as the last – hauling buckets of water, mixing mud to make bricks, putting the mixture into brick moulds, a lunch of molasses and water, stacking bricks into piles, digging up soil for the next day’s bricks. At the end of the day, both children will try to rub the ache out of their backs while Kalawati helplessly suggests they try walking around to ease the pain knowing that it won’t work.

That’s not the extreme in the possible tortures of a day in the life of a child slave in India. There are days when children are beaten to force them into submission; days when a mother is forced to watch a brick kiln owner dangle her son over a 700°C flame simply to frighten her. Rather, it’s just the typical day that the Indian Parliament could act on to make a distant memory for every Indian child forever.

The Indian Parliament has extended their session to Friday, 6 September to progress a number of important bills before they prepare for election. They are paying attention to what voters are saying as well as the opinions of activists rallying all over the world in defence of the child slaves of India.

Kalawati won’t have the chance to speak out for her children, but you can – tell the Indian Parliament to pass the Child and Adolescent Labour Abolition Bill TODAY: http://walkfree.org/indiachildslavery

If passed, the Child and Adolescent Labour Abolition Bill would:
1) prohibit employment of children under 14 years of age;
2) outline harsh sentences for violators; and
3) provide for monitoring of suspected cases of child slavery.

This legislation would put an end to the enslavement of children in India, but it risks not passing without a demonstration of mass public support.

Will you help? Take action now: http://walkfree.org/indiachildslavery

Kalawati wants the same futures for her children as every other parent. And she has one more wish – that her children will know a life outside of slavery.

Thank you,

Debra, Ryan, Jessica, Kate, Mich, Amy and the Walk Free Team

Silencing Dissent.

Under our present system, lobbying is seen as a way the big boys can buy politicians and shape  government policy. People complain and the government sees this as a way of silencing dissent, so introduces a bill that will silence critical opposition. There are many roads to fascism, and the state knows them all.
This from A World To Win.

How the state plans to shut down dissent

Later this month, the Trades Union Congress is backing a march and rally in Manchester against the ConDems’ carve-up of the NHS. Next year, a repeat campaign could be deemed illegal under legislation due for debate in parliament today.
The TUC is not exactly a scaremongering organisation. So when general secretary Frances O’Grady warns that the Transparency of Lobbying, non-Party Campaigning, and Trade Union Administration Bill is an “attack on free speech worthy of an authoritarian dictatorship” there is just cause for alarm.
She points out that the Bill has been drawn so widely that it will “shut down dissent for the year before an election”, adding: “No organisation that criticises a government policy will be able to overdraw their limited ration of dissent without fearing a visit from the police.”

Prosecuted For Being Anti-Fascist.

There can be no denying that the Greek state is indeed a European fascist state. Today it sets the standard for other European states to follow, it has brought to court two respected individuals for supporting anti-fascist rhetoric. The tide is turning fast.

Moutzouris was sued because of his role as a vice-chancellor of the Athens Polytechnic, at the time when this hosted the Athens Indymedia servers. Michael-Matsas was sued because of the anti-fascist slogans chanted by members of the EEK in May 2009. By upholding the GD suing and bringing the case to court, the Greek “justice” system has scored a Europe-wide first in persecuting anti-fascist discourse.
In response, hundreds of anti-fascists gathered in solidarity outside the Athens Courthouse this morning. Inside the courts, the persecuting “witnesses” (Skordeli and the now GD MP, Panagiotaros), were nowhere to be seen.

The State's March To Fascism.

Day and daily the Greek state bears down on the people, creating enforced poverty and deprivation at the behest of the Troika, (ECB, European Central Bank, EC, European Commission, and the IMF, International Mankind Fuckers). As the anger among the people grows, the state works hard at closing down any hint of free space occupied by the people. Squat after squat is attacked, evicted and closed down, the latest being the Orfanotrofio squat in Thessaloniki, which had existed for years as a social centre in the community. Some of the squats recently evicted have been in existence for more than 20 years. In difficult times the state will crush any attempt by the people to organise among themselves.
The Greek state is now openly racist, this is another line of its defence, scapegoats. Blame the immigrants for all the ills that beset the people of Greece. In Greece they are rounded up and detained in concentration camps, more than a hint of Nazi Germany. It is the normal progression of the state whenever it feels threatened, a move to open fascism.
Greece and the Greek people are no different from any other European country. What is happening in Greece is happening here. Though perhaps not as overtly or as brutal, but that is only because the state here doesn't feel the need to go that far, yet. However it is on the agenda whenever they feel that need arises.

Creationism And Insanity, What's The Difference?

I came across this crap by creationist as a proof that man was created by that wonderful architect in the sky. The same guy, they don't say it was a woman, who I assume created tsunamis, earthquakes, flood disasters and volcanic eruptions, that kill thousands of innocent living creatures every year. So it appears if you believe in evolution you have to ask yourself, "Why am I such a fine looking person?" "Where are all my vestigial organs?" That should restore your faith in the big guy in the sky.

This is from their site called Missing Universe Museum; Exhibit 6, Vestigial Organs.

Here is an illustration of a created man as opposed to one who just evolved by chance:

Per Evolutionists a vestigial organ or appendage is supposedly something that exists in a living organism without any function, but served some useful purpose in the past in some ancestral form. These should exist as well as harmless appendages that never did perform any useful function. They would be external as well as internal.

A Few Pieces Of Silver For Your Rights??

All of those in employment should reflect on the fact that they have employment rights, and none of those rights were gifted to you by the employer. They were fought for over decades, in bitter struggles, some of those involved in those struggles paid for those rights with their lives. The price of those rights has been paid for many fold, in hardship, blood, sweat, tears, prison and death. You insult those who suffered to win those employment rights, if you hand them away to your employer for a few pieces of worthless silver.
The government, at the behest of corporate power, will do everything it can to remove those rights by legislation, while the corporate bodies tear up employees hard won contracts. Today, September 1st. the government's, shares for rights scheme, comes into force. Simply put, this piece of legislation encourages the employee to give up some of their basic employment rights in exchange for a handful of shares in the company. Surely only an idiot can't see that you are being bribed to allow the employer to do as they wish with you and your employment rights.
If you accept this crude cheap bribe, you are creating an even harsher working environment for your kids and those who follow, you are turning the clock back several decades, you are betraying an ongoing struggle for that better world. You are also demeaning all the individuals and communities who won those bitter battles to give you a better working environment. This piece of legislation should be ridiculed  and consigned to the toilet. We want a better world for all, that will never come about by throwing away what few rights we have won.

---- Employee owners lose their protection from unfair dismissal and rights to redundancy pay and flexible working, making it easier and cheaper to be sacked. In exchange, they receive tax-free shares valued at between £2,000 and £50,000 - though they are not guaranteed equal voting rights or dividends like other shareholders.
There is no guarantee that the shares would gain or even hold their value, so some individuals could end up trading basic employment rights for worthless shares, warns the TUC.----
