Another Look At "Western" Values.

Not up to date news, and probably seen before, but well worth spreading as a critical look at "Western" values.

Ferguson Waits For Justice.

The verdict in the Darren Wilson case is due any time now. Darren Wilson is the white police officer charged with shooting the black youth Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri. How the verdict goes will determine what happens next in Missouri. so far there are 68 arranged meet-up places for when the verdict is announced. I don't think the local population will take it quietly if the verdict doesn't satisfy their cry for justice.
There is now a compiled list of 68 different meet-up places across the country that will ignite in response to the upcoming Darren Wilson verdict. Some of these have been fairly under-promoted, so it might make sense to start spreading this information around your networks now. There are rumors that the verdict will be announced this week (perhaps even this afternoon) and many of the meet-ups are the day of/after the announcement. Please keep your ears to the ground.
New meet-ups are being added every hour. Go to http://fergusonresponse.tumblr.com/ to add your own, or find more specific details about locations. Visit http://fergusonandfurther.noblogs.org/ for flyers, posters and other propaganda about Gerguson.

Can We Join The Dots?

We all know capitalism produces wars between countries, and has done so more or less, since the system crawled out of the slime to infest the globe. What most people don't seem to recognise, is, it also causes wars within countries, wars between the ruling elite and the ordinary people. As capitalism is global it is difficult to find a country where the people are not in open conflict with the powers that be. The Ferguson riots in America, though classed as racial, racism is an aspect of capitalism. Mexico, the recent disappearance of 43 students and teachers and the ongoing violent protests, is the capitalist state attempting to crush any resistance to its exploitation. Recently we have seen over 100 protests across Ireland against watercharges, as capitalism tries to squeeze more profit from the ordinary people. In Brussels, there have been violent clashes as more than 100,000 protesters took to the streets against that common aspect of capitalism, “austerity”. In London we have just had more than a thousand masked anti-capitalist protesters take to the city centre.
Protests took place in towns and cities across the Republic, including Letterkenny in County Donegal

It would be extremely difficult to find a country where the people are not at odds with the system, across the globe unrest, anger and disgust are the feelings of the people, all have a growing hatred of a system that ties them to poverty, while they produce an abundance of wealth, that invariably ends up in the hands of a small greed driven bunch of parasites. With so much anger and unrest, it seems strange that the system is still managing to bleed us dry, perhaps we just have to join the dots between these world wide protests and we will see the system collapse.

Self Interest Based Compassion.

Just as a by-the-way, once again my broadband has been behaving like an bad buy, second hand car. Down for the last three days, after being fixed last week, after a ten day breakdown. All is not perfect in our world of hi-tec.
Bloodshed across the Middle East and Ukraine, among other places, and talk of having a look at highly militarised police forces. Talk of saving this group but not bothering too much about that group, compassion based on self interest, that's the game of world politics.

An Interesting article from Reader Supported News, by William Boardman:

Protesters in Ferguson, Missouri. (The News Commenter)
Rescuing 20,000 or so Yazidis matters more than bringing relief to almost two million Gazans in cities under siege by a relentlessly expansionist, right-wing Israeli government bent on ethnic cleansing? Well, maybe that’s not exactly what Tel Aviv/Jerusalem is up to, but decades of repetitive behavior that includes repeated war crimes is anything but reassuring. How is it better to keep arming Israel, the better to kill Palestinians, or at least to kill those Palestinians who survive the lethal and illegal Israeli occupation and blockade, when the alternative is to support the United Nations and perhaps prevent more atrocities?
Rescuing 20,000 or so Yazidis matters more than protecting at least as many Americans in Ferguson, a city under siege by white privilege? Saving the Yazidis for now matters more than bringing justice to African-American Americans who have suffered their country’s crimes against their humanity for longer than the United States has existed? How is it better to arm local police with the weapons of international war in a country where police already commit the atrocity of killing a black man on average every 28 hours?
