Revolting Art.

I posted this piece back on the 7th July, but thought it worth while to remind people of this exhibition by Eaun Sutherland, a long time active comrade.

We live in a world of chaos, pillage and plunder, all managed and manipulated by powerful and rich individuals and corporations, aided and abetted by the various states. All to their advantage at the expense of the lives of ordinary people, the ones who actually produce all that wealth. Wars, ecological disasters, mass poverty, gross injustice and inequality is the norm produced by this economic system of insanity and greed.
However, below the surface there is always a rumbling of anger and an army of people working hard at trying to change this mayhem to a fairer and sustainable system, a system freed from the profit motive, that sees to the needs of all our people built on mutual aid and co-operation.
That underground army must use every means at its disposal from literature on the streets, autonomous spaces, community based mutual aid groups, workplace organisations that build solidarity, mass protests, direct action, strikes and reminding everybody of the history of this economic system of greed and exploitation.
We also should never forget the part art and poetry can make to this struggle for justice. Both these mediums can inspire, point a direction, awaken those feelings of desire for freedom and explain the basic injustices of the present economic system.

So, not to be missed is an exhibition of art works by Euan Sutherland, Portraits of Power. This will run from Tuesday 1st to Saturday 12th. August and will be held in The Deep End 21 Nithsdale Street G41 2PZ This exhibition will be part of the Govanhill International Festival here is a copy of the festival program

Between Dignity and Poverty

In this metropolis of wealth with its fountains of opulence
We are the excluded army that walks that tightrope
Between dignity and poverty.
The excluded, the marginalised, the forgotten,
Regulated by mercenaries, some with guns, others with pens.
They know not, we are their brothers and sisters.
Nor do they know,
Our strength is forged in the humiliation of the bread line
Our daily question, will there be food,
Or will the pangs of hunger stay.
We exist in a system of numbers and balance sheets,
Our lives, dehumanised statistics,
Catalogued and filed by a blind accountant.
When asked to count our dead, do we count the living dead?
Will this tightrope be the inheritance to our children
Or shall our tortured journey lead us from anxiety to revolt
Will the anguish of our children feed our righteous anger
Causing us to tear asunder this fabricated web of injustice

Solidarity.

All prisons are hell-holes, edifices to state repression and savagery, essential part of the states apparatus for creating a submissive population, of course they fail miserably. While they still stand, those enmeshed in its vile tentacles deserve our support and solidarity.
The following is an opportunity to go all arty and at the same time support comrades caught up in the states loaded judicial system.

Image from Act For Freedom Now.

 From "Unoffensive Animal"

As you all know, one of the main jobs we do is supporting comrades in prison and folks who have to cover fines after taking action. The reality of it is that we never make enough money in order to cover everything we would like to cover, even counting PayPal donations, patreon donations and merch.
Luckily, many of you are super generous and want to help in any way possible. These time, we bring you something just a tad different thanks to @goaskforde, who has donated artwork to raise funds to support prisoners.
We are going to run a little raffle for a couple of weeks. The tickets can be bought through our website for 7.50 GBP and you can get as many tickets as you want. If you win, @goaskforde will send:
– “Now” Framed original 10×12″ ink drawing of a wolf
– “Light a Match, Burn a Prison” signed 8×10″ fine art giclee print
– Large vinyl “Boltcuttter Birdie” sticker
– Large vinyl “Praying mantis” sticker
In addition, we will send a hoodie of your choice (stock dependent!) and a bunch of stickers.
So if you like art, or simply if you’d like to support us and help us keep helping folks, please grab yourself a ticket or two down below:
We will announce the winners on the 3rd of May, so you have 14 days to get as many tickets as you can and to share this around as much as possible!
Also, please follow @goaskforde on instagram and support artists as much as possible. You can also find the artwork on www.goaskforde.com

Black Square.

★ I am an anarchist in my very own essence ★

Kasimir Malevich.

"In 1913, trying desperately to liberate art from the ballast of the representational world, I sought refuge in the form of the black square."
Revolutionary anarchist artist and founder of the Suprematist movement, Kasimir Malevich (Казимир Северинович Малевич) was born on Feb. 11, 1878, in Kiev. He is credited with having painted the first geometric, totally nonrepresentational picture.
He was a regular contributor to Anarkhiia, under the pen name Anti - a Russian weekly, then daily newspaper published by the Moscow Federation of Anarchist Groups.
It was first launched in September 1917, but was suspended in the confusion arising over the Bolshevik seizure of power. It reappeared in March 1918 as a daily newspaper. The last issue, the 99th, was published on 2 July 1918.
The paper had a section devoted to Tvorchestvo or "creativity". It featured many prominent Russian avant-garde artists such Aleksei Gan, Aleksandr Rodchenko, Aleksei Morgunov, Ivan Kliun, Olga Rozanova and Nadezhda Udaltsova.

We Must Administer The Medicine.

We are coming to the end of the annual epidemic of the disease of consumerism, a time of the year when millions sacrifice themselves on the altar of debt. The epidemic passes, but the disease of consumerism lives on, as does the burden of debt. At this time of the year, the babbling brook of bullshit, the mainstream media, splurges out vast amounts of sewage in the form of "adverts" extolling the wonders of all manner of crap, the nearer we get to the cut off date of this consumer extravaganza, December 25th., the more neurotic the corporations become, and we see the magic of falling prices as they shout 10% off, 15% off, 20% off, 50% off and more, starting to display just how much they were ripping you off by, in the first place. No matter the occasion our capitalist society must turn it into one of mass consumerism. No event is complete without the sale of its paraphernalia, Christmas is just one of the major peaks in the disease of consumerism, which is slowly destroying the planet. We have the cure for this disease, but seem reluctant to administer the medicine, which is organising our communities on the basis of seeing to the needs of all our people through mutual aid and co-operation, free from the poisoning influence of profit, in a word, anarchism.

Capitalism Made Easy To Understand.

Anybody with two brain cells is aware that capitalism is exploitation, plundering the public purse, and generates inequality and poverty, is the root cause of wars, and the destruction of the environment. It can in a simplistic manner be explained as, someone expects to put in £1 and withdraw £1:50, without doing anything. However, I believe that sometimes a poem can express this clearer and with greater feeling than many a heavy thick volume, and an art work can do it with simplicity and with greater clarity.
Easy to understand:

I Am The Owner Of Everything.

Labourers after dinner, artist JM Johnstone, 1895.
Poetry is a wonderful way to speak the truth, to express emotion, to paint a picture, to say so much without filling pages and pages, it is that halfway place between conversation and music. On the same theme as a previous post, for those who don't read the comments, I believe this is worthy of repeating, thanks Loam.
I am the owner of everything

I am the owner of everything,
but I never got anything.
I make light and I make fire,
I push the wind and the water.

My hands to the wood
They make it do wonders.
I'm the one who tempers the steel
and who casts the seed.

I make the chair and the table
and I have no where to sit.
Finally, I dont even have
the right to get tired.

I do palaces, and my children
sleep in tin shacks.
I am hammer, ax and tong,
clip, spoon and hoe.

I am the owner of everything
but I never got anything.
The day I say enough!,
flares will burn!
                                                               - Horacio Guarany

Original version:
Yo soy el dueño de todo

Yo soy el dueño de todo,
pero nunca tengo nada.
Yo hago la luz, hago el fuego,
hago el viento y hago el agua.

Mis manos a la madera
le hacen hacer maravillas.
Yo soy quien tiempla el acero
y quien echa la semilla.

Yo hago la silla y la mesa
y no tengo ’onde sentarme.
Total, si ya no me queda
ni el derecho de cansarme.

Yo hago el palacio, y mis hijos
duermen en ranchos de lata.
Soy martillo, hacha, tenaza,
pinza, cuchara y azada.

Yo soy el dueño de todo
pero nunca tengo nada.
¡El día que yo me canse,
van a arder las llamaradas!

Back From Art And All That.

Well we are back from Pittenweem Arts Festival, it was non-stop and very cold, but for my partner, Stasia, it was well worth doing. Pittenweem is a small fishing village on the east coast of Scotland, the East Neuk of Fife, (neuk, Scots word for corner) and for the last 34 years has run what is the largest arts festival in Scotland. A beautiful little place and one of the few Scottish fishing villages that still has fishing boats coming and going, and their catch going into trucks for the towns and cities.

Anarchism And Art.

People's perceptions of anarchism will vary according to what section of that babbling brook of bullshit, the mainstream media, they seek their information. The establishment would have people believe that anarchism is something odd, indulged in by a small group of oddities. An activity where these oddities run around the streets waving black flags and throwing things.

Of course to the informed, anarchism is an all encompassing way of life, a whole value structure that seeks freedom from coercion. and justice for all, a life of mutual aid, voluntary association and co-operation. Anarchism is the desire for all to reach their full potential in creativity for the benefit of all. This means that anarchism is always linked to "the arts", creativity, and self-expression. Though you may not have grasped it yet, anarchism is for you.
The following is a short talk on anarchism and art, by A-Radio, Berlin.
