No Nations, No Borders.

      That babbling brook of bullshit, the mainstream media, fed by xenophobic politicians, is raising to a crescendo the ant-migrant chorus. They talk of our cities being swamped, by swarms and dangerous hordes, all hell bent on stealing our jobs and destroying our "Britishness". They refuse to see human beings trying desperately to flee from death and destruction, their answer is to herd them into corrals like cattle and call for more controls, higher fences more police and troops. Nor will they face the fact that the migrant "problem" stems from the foreign policy of Western imperialism in the area from which the migrants come. Their mind set seems to be that they can bomb countries back to the stone age, bolster religious nutters and psychopathic warlords, turning the ruined cities into bloody battlefields, and then expect the ordinary people to stay there and suffer everything from deprivation to death. We all strive for a better life, but we the ordinary people will only find that through co-operation and solidarity with all those involved in that struggle. Our enemy is not those desperately fighting for that better life, our enemy is the state apparatus and its imperialism that creates all that which we are fighting against.

Note from Rabble: It seems barely a day goes by that we can avoid the fascistic anti-migrant bullshit in the press. The time is now. We have to start seriously preparing for rising xenophobia and more movement of people as multiple crises converge. This means: zero-tolerance for anti-migrant snatch squads, countering the propaganda on the streets, and building strong transnational solidarity.

       The latest news from Calais: More than 4000 people, stuck in a camp they didn’t choose to be in, desperately trying to find ways to cross to the UK, with 11 people dying so far since June. The government’s response: more controls. The media’s response: fear mongering at the ‘criminal gangs intimidating truck drivers’. Our response: solidarity.

      We are a bunch of people who have been involved in Calais Migrant Solidarity and have recently returned from Calais. During August we will be travelling around the UK talking about Calais and how to get involved there.

A War Painted In Pastel Shades Of Lies.

 

       The babbling brook of bullshit, mainstream media, backs the establishment in painting WW1 in glorious pastel shades of lies, here is an extract from an excellent article stating some of the truths of WW1 From Stop The War:

1. The war was fought in defence of democracy
         This is contradicted by the basic facts. Germany had universal manhood suffrage while in Britain, including Ireland, some 40% of men still did not qualify for the vote. In Germany also, there were attempts to justify the war on the grounds that it was being fought to defend civilised values against a repressive, militaristic state, in the form of Russian autocracy.
2. Britain went to war due to a treaty obligation to defend the neutrality of Belgium
        There was no clear and accepted obligation on Britain to do this, and, in fact, before the Belgian issue appeared, the war party in the cabinet was already pushing for British intervention on the entirely different ground that there were naval obligations to France. These obligations had been developed in secret arrangements between the military of both countries, and were never subject to any kind of democratic accountability. The Germans even offered guarantees over Belgian integrity, which the British government refused to consider at all.
3. German aggression was the driving force for war

Far from shining a light on the true situation in the country, however, these reports continue to avoid the underlying causes and explanations for what is happening in Syria, and the forces that are behind it.

THE MEDIA - LIES AND ILLUSIONS.

         Several weeks of protests in New York by the Occupy Wall St. movement and still the media give it a very low key approach, the fact that it is spreading to other cities in America makes no difference what so ever. It is not hitting the headlines, there is obviously a form of censorship in the West. You can report protests and up-risings in lots of countries across the world, the further away the better, the nearer to home the less coverage they get. Not much in the European media about the protests in Athens, Madrid and Rome, to mention a few, but lots of cover on the uprisings in the Middle East. As Julian Assange said at the London anti-war protests this weekend, "journalist peddle lies", but what is equally abhorrent is the non reporting of certain events when it might throw a bad light on their lords and masters the corporate world. The mainstream media is a subservient tool of the corporate world, the peddler of illusions, a PR machine for the corporate and political parasites at the top. It is time that we stopped looking to the mainstream media for "news" and stick with the independent alternative media, activists' news-sheets, internet, facebook, twitter, etc. Let the mainstream media peddle their lies to the thin air.
