Insanity.

As the British establishment wanted to be seen as one of the big boys in the power broker stage, it decided to build two massive aircraft carriers. Though we are short on cash for health and social facilities, our privileged pampered political ballerinas decide that £7.6 billion was snip for two of these beasts of destruction. Of course there is another £6.2 billion to kit them out with the hardware to blow other countries to smithereens. You would also imagine that these beasts were for the UK to blow its trumpet in various spots around the globe. However what we find is that while this brute scuttles around the Mediterranean there are more U$A F-35B fighters on board than UK fighters. A total of 8 UK F-35Bs compared to 10 from the US Marine Corp. Are we the UK tax payer in some way subsidising the U$A war machine?

Another little point, each of these F-35B fighters costs approximately £93 million and today we just plonked one into the Mediterranean Sea. No doubt there will be a few tut-tuts from the top brass as they go about replacing this £93 million killer machine. Think what would £93 million would do for you local community. The £93 million for the F-35B fighter doesn't take into account arming the beast with missiles at from £250,000 to £800,000 a pop, and they usually carry a few.
This is the face of the insanity built into our system, while we cut social care, public sports facilities, libraries, community centres and have a health system cracking at the seams and a grossly underfunded education system, rising poverty and homelessness, we can pour billions into weapons of mass destruction, as we parade around the world as one of the U$A bully's big sidekicks.

Anti-Trident Protests.

For others who didn't know about the July 16th. Protest against Trident, it was happening across this country, mainly in the Glasgow and Clyde area, where these weapons are situated. These are not defensive weapons, all we have to do is remember Hiroshima, one bomb, and a city with its inhabitants incinerated, civilians, men, women and children.

Published on July 16, 2016
As the 'British' Parliament prepare to 'debate' the renewal of the trident missile weapons system based at the Gareloch in west of Scotland, concerned citizens throughout the country express their dissent. This is Dumbarton, 15 minutes from the base which houses these weapons of mass destruction. The 'debate' takes place on Monday 18 July and although all but one of Scotland's MPs will vote against it, there is no doubt that the Tory Government and its Red Tory cohorts in the so-called Labour Party will vote to impose this horror on Scotland and its people. Shameful affront to democracy.

Western Imperialism, Plain And Simple.

The working class should take a few lessons from the UK state apparatus, they never give up. They spout about listening to the will of the people, but when the people say something they don't like, they just wait a bit and then after an avalanche of propaganda, ask again. So the people have spoken, Britain will not bomb Syria, well let's beef up the propaganda of fear, and then ask again.
A modern graveyard of ordinary people.
They will destroy Syria, well it is practically destroyed already, but they still want rid of Assad and his cronies, and the rat bag of fundamentalists aren't doing it quick enough. So they need to up the stakes, to complete their original plan, get rid of Assad and claim the oil and gas fields for Western corporatism. Compare this approach with that taken by the UK state on the Scottish independence vote, the people have spoken, it should not be raised again at least for a generation, no matter if circumstances change. They are obviously keener on bombing other sovereign states than they are at allowing a people their independence.
The shape of Western freedom in the Middle East.
We must stop this insanity being piloted by Cameron and his cronies, we the people of the UK have nothing to gain from blasting the civilian population of any other country. Make no mistake, if UK imperialists start bombing Syria, it will be civilians that will feel the brunt of that savage brutality. Like Iraq, towns and cities will be crushed beneath the power of modern day weapons. It will be ordinary men, women and children that will lie beneath the rumble. The officer and political class will be well protected from the Armageddon spawned by the destructive power of modern weaponry.
No politicians here.
The gainers will be the Western arms industry and the oil and gas corporations, none of whom will ever be at the forefront of the brutality and savagery of modern warfare.
Iraq, 17 August 2015.
The UK state has been at war continuously for centuries, this is just another imperialist venture on top of the hundreds of others. A continuous sacrifice of the lives of ordinary people to further the wealth and power of corporations, floated on the illusion of fighting for democracy, and bring freedom to other people. It will continue as long as we touch our forelock and bend our knee in submission to the state and its brutal, imperialistic apparatus.
To end this insanity, greed and brutal scramble for power and wealth, we have to sweep away the state, all its control, power and surveillance apparatus, its borders, and that divisive man made creation, the nation state. One world, one people, living in communities linked by co-operation, mutual aid, free association and seeing to the needs of all our people.

Hiroshima State Insanity.

August 6th. 1945, America drop the first atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. One bomb an a city and its inhabitants incinerated, all in a few seconds. A war crime of gigantic proportions. Then to compound the crime, three days latter the repeated their horrific deed on another city, Nagasaki.
Since then they have peddled the lie that nuclear weapons have kept the peace for all these years. A peace that has included Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, and hundreds of other wars across the planet. Ask the people of these countries if nuclear weapons have kept the peace. They are weapons that break every piece of international legislation covering combat between nations, they are indiscriminate, weapons of mass destruction against civilian populations.

Nuclear weapons are a blot on humanity, a reminder that we allow ourselves to be governed and controlled by a bunch of insane psychopaths. There is no rationale for the existence of such weapons, they are the weapons of madmen, and nothing to do with keeping the peace.

Faslane Peace Camp, A Diary Date.

A date for your diary, 4 days of workshops, fun and direct action hosted by the Faslane Peace Camp, June 12th. Lend your support to 32 years of continuous resistance to nuclear weapons.

Faslane Peace Camp is a permanent peace camp sited alongside Faslane Naval base in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It is a reminder of the horror that nestles in our beautiful countryside, a beacon highlighting the insanity of the system under which we live. Thanks to an army of dedicated peace lovers, it has been occupied continuously, in a few different locations, since 12 June 1982.

http://faslanepeacecamp.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/img000081.jpg

The camp has changed over the years, morphing according to the number and personalities of those occupying the site. At one point there were two camps, one at each of the main gates of the nuclear base.
A few years ago, after council border changes, the new council ended the camp's tenancy. An eviction was organised, but in the face of strong resistance and what would be large costs, they abandoned the eviction.

http://faslanepeacecamp.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/img00014.jpg

Over the years the camp residents have breached the security of the nuclear base and been swimming and canoeing in its waters, as well as disrupting the transporting of trident nuclear missiles. They also run workshops and other events to keep the issue of the illegality of these weapons of mass destruction, in the public domain, and the insanity of storing of them so close to a large city, Glasgow.

http://faslanepeacecamp.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/img00044.jpg

The 12th of June will see the Peace Camp hosting 4 days of workshops, fun and direct action. This is to mark 32 years of continuous resistance to the insanity of nuclear weapons. Accommodation will be available and there will be evening entertainment.
This event is open to the public and you are invited to come along and help run, organise, workshops and make suggestions, make friends and strengthen the resistance to this horror on our doorstep.

Hiroshima.

Monday 8:15am, August 6, 1945, the day when the atomic bomb was first used in war. The city of Hiroshima in Japan was the target. One bomb the equivalent of approximately 20,000 tons of high explosives, fell from the sky, early as everybody in the city was preparing for their daily routine.  The result was the immediate deaths of approximately 80,000 people of all ages, and roughly 70% of all buildings completely destroyed and a further 7% severely damaged. By the end of the year the death toll from injuries and radiation, had pushed the total to somewhere between 90,000 and 140,000. In one blinding flash, a city and most of its inhabitants obliterated. That was what war had come to, unbelievable, instant, massive, death and destruction. We should dwell on these figures and scenes as our mad-hatter politicians talk of military action against other countries. It is people just like you and I that they are talking about killing, instantly, or over a period of years, it doesn't matter to them as they sit in their marble halls of power.
To mark the horror of Hiroshima and atomic weapons, the Faslane Peace Camp are asking people to come and join them, to highlight the fact that we in this country still harbour these weapons of mass destruction, right here on the Clyde. Weapons that should never be used, and shouldn't even exist.

To remember the tragic event that happened in Hiroshima on the 6th of August in 1945 we are creating this event as a memorial of remembrance to those affected by it.

At 11 we are going to make an Arc at the Peace Camp Gate. At 5:45 PM we are going to walk to the North Gate Base to have an hours vigil in silence between 6:15 and 7:15.
Just as it gets dark we are also going to go light 200 candles along the fences of the nuclear base.

THE STATE, - A COLD BLOODED KILLER.

Troy Davis

The state is the most brutal organisation on the face of the planet, it has no hesitation in sending its own people to foreign lands to kill and maim innocent civilians in their homeland, it will unleash weapons of unimaginable devastation on cities and villages in country after country killing and injuring thousand, and claim the actions are legitimate. These brutal actions do not make the state's cold blooded legalised killing of one of its own citizens any less barbaric.
This is a statement from Amnesty International on the recent execution of Troy Davis.

In the early hours of this morning, after a torturous delay of more than 4 hours, the state of Georgia executed Troy Anthony Davis by lethal injection. Despite the serious doubts about his guilt. Despite millions calling on Georgia to reconsider.
Like you, I am not only sad but outraged that this has happened. I was there last night with hundreds of others at a vigil outside the US embassy. We continued to hope, right up until the last moment, that those with the power to do so would wake up and prevent this injustice. They did not
Today, Georgia didn't just kill Troy Davis, they killed the faith and confidence of Georgians, Americans and Troy Davis supporters worldwide in the US criminal justice system.
My colleague, Wende at AIUSA met with Troy yesterday to convey the support that he has had from all of you. He asked us to deliver this message back to you:
"The struggle for justice doesn't end with me. This struggle is for all the Troy Davises who came before me and all the ones who will come after me. I'm in good spirits and I'm prayerful and at peace." Troy Davis
Soon we will channel all the outrage we’re feeling into redoubling our efforts for all the other Troy Davises. But today, we simply stand in solidarity with Troy’s family on this darkest of days. Send a message to Troy’s family now
You must know that your support has been a huge comfort to Troy and his family. Thank you for everything you have done.
I am Troy Davis. You are Troy Davis. We will not stop fighting for justice.

DEADLY CARGO.

Through the night, through our narrow country lanes a deadly nuclear cargo rolls from one end of the country to the other. Did you consent to have this illegal convoy of nuclear weapons of mass destruction pass by your home, your kids school, your local retail park? Are you told when it is going to pass, or are you, like most of the public, completely unaware of this government illegality? Perhaps one night you will go to sleep and that will be that, a little accident on the road and oblivian for an entire city. There are records of many small accidents with these convoys, but up until now we have been lucky, no nuclear explosion, but how far would you push your luck when dealing with the lives of thousands of people?
 Sleep well my love.

There's been some collateral damage!!

Fully assembled nuclear convoys are regularly transported in secret convoys on ordinary roads, day and night right across Britain. The authorities are asking us to keep an eye out for suspicious looking bags at train stations. Nukewatch is asking us to keep an eye out for suspicious looking trucks carrying weapons of mass destruction on our motorways.
Find out the chilling truth about these lethal convoys, how they are tracked by the people in the Nukewatch network.

WHEN IS A BOOT NOT A BOOT???

The UN No-fly Zone resolution 1973, specifically ruled out foreign military action on the ground in Libya. The enforcers of the No-fly Zone have always said that in this operation there would be no “boots on the ground”. Of course that doesn't include Special Forces who have been there more or less from the start, probably on a photo shot for some travel agency. Now the UK is sending in high ranking military officers. No doubt to comply with the UN resolution they, like the Special Forces, will go in barefoot. It is the usual creep process. If they can't get what they want with the rules then we can indulge in some euphemisms. First there will be advisers, then training and support, then there is humanitarian help, which will need military protection, and of course then comes the “Peacekeeping Force”.

Is there anybody out there who believes that we are doing this for the good of the Libyan people? Today the “rebels” stated that there has been 10,000 killed and 50,000 wounded, (the figures can't be independently verified), the city of Tripoli has suffered over 200 strikes by weapons of mass destruction with fancy names like Pathfinder, etc. followed by claims that we killed no civilians. Think of all the money the arms industry will make replacing all those missiles at prices ranging from £500,000 to £800,000 a shot. Very smart missiles these, they don't explode if there are civilians in the area. The country has now been turned into another African nation where civil war rages. Our support has hurtled Libyan against Libyan in a bloody struggle that wont be healed for generations. The country's infrastructure is smashed, now there's an opportunity for Haliburton, what hope now for the Libyan people, with the West calling the shots, one thing for sure, they can say goodbye to their oil.

NO MONEY FOR HEALTH - MONEY FOR DEATH.

Since NATO took full command of the Libyan bloodshed, and that is approximately one week, it has carried out over 500 “sorties” (nice word that for “killing exercises”). Each missile fired costs between £700,000 and £850,000, while the running costs of the “sorties” varies from £30,000 to £70,000 depending on the planes involved. During all this devastating bombardment all we hear of is the casualties on the “rebels” side. If the Gaddafi forces can inflict this sort of carnage with small arms fire, tanks and field artillery, what sort of slaughter is the NATO deluge of weapons of mass destruction, doing to the Libyan people on the other side?

At a time when the ordinary people of every country in the NATO alliance are suffering cuts to every fibre of the fabric of their society, because of the proclaimed lack of money, how can we still afford this massive outpouring of money for the purpose of killing Libyan people. Make no bones about it, all the talk of no-fly zones and protecting the rebel forces, is just double speak for war, slaughter and the destruction of a country's infrastructure. No matter the euphemisms trotted out in the media, this is death and mutilated bodies in large numbers and the largest number will be the result of the UN/NATO operation. Looking around the world at all the brutal dictators and their vicious oppression of their people, and our approach to them, prove to me that in this case, there was no other way!!!

PAYING FOR THE WAR WITH NURSES AND TEACHERS!!!!

Some updates on the financial cost of Cameron's Libyan caper, it seems that every Prime Minister needs a war. These figures are from defence analyst Francis Tusa's estimate gathered from Parliamentary Questions.

The four RAF Tornado GR4s now based in Italy. Running costs are £35,000 an hour, once they are in the air. The Tornados fired Storm Shadow and possibly Brimstone missiles during their first two sorties, but the MoD won't say how many they used. Each missile costs £750,000 to £800,000.
The 10 Typhoon fighters also in Italy, more expensive because they are new. The cost to fly them is thought to be £70,000 an hour, though that may reduce to £40,000 an hour the longer the operation goes on.
The Trafalgar-class submarine HMS Triumph, which has been in the Mediterranean for more than a week. It has been firing Tomahawk cruise missiles at Gaddafi's air defence systems. Running a submarine costs up to £200,000 a day. Its cruise missiles cost £500,000 each.
The navy's two frigates in the Mediterranean – HMS Cumberland and HMS Westminster. Running costs about £90,000 a day. HMS Cumberland was diverted to Libya on its journey home to be scrapped, so every day it is there is above and beyond budget.

That's a lot of teachers and nurses and it will not stop the Libyans from killing Libyans, which can be added to those that are being killed and maimed by the compassionate West's weapons of mass destruction. I know that we are not getting figures of casualties, "collateral damage" but it is inconceivable that such weapons can be rained down on a large city, (Tripoli, population 1,065,405 (2006 census) night after night and the people are unscathed. But doesn't the West always fights clean wars, we never kill civilians, only combatants. Remember "Shock-and-Awe" in Iraq and the following slaughter across that country including Fallujah December 23, 2004?
Forty odd years of us supplying Qaddafi with hi-tec weapons of mass destruction and then going in with ours to knock his out. No doubt after this is all over we will have to re-arm Libya, now that is good business.
