Organise Now.

A bit late with this, the Kellie 45 has been out for about a week. Why is this important? perhaps because we are facing a possible Armageddon as the genocide in Gaza continues unabated with the blessing of most of the Western puppets of the imperial U$A empire. An empire of psychopaths who arrogantly believe they have the right to rule the world and plunder where and when they want. They have done so with impunity since the end of WW2. However, their power is slipping away and being psychopaths, they won't let that happen without a suicidal fight, using the devastating nuclear arsenal at their disposal, no matter the consequences to millions upon millions of innocent civilians.
So it is of the utmost importance the papers such as the Keelie are on the streets, in the workplaces, in the communities trying to impress on everyone with peace and well being on their mind to come out onto the streets, to organise in their communities to come together in their workplaces and stop this genocidal, suicide by the power crazy psychopaths who it this moment in time hold the reins of power. It is up to us to seize those reins of power for the sake of all humanity. Get out there, get your Keellie at demos, street meetings, peace events, pickets and be part of the fight back for sanity and humanity.

Lest We Forget---!!.

Perhaps a wee bit late for "Rembrance Day", but still worth mentioning. Just what were we remembering and what were we forgetting? We here in this country may have "peace", but it is a blood stained peace.
An article I wrote some years ago, it is obvious that nothing much has changed except perhaps that the weapons are more destructive.

All the self centred, pompous heads of state who shuffled for their moment on the podium, attempting to glorify the imperial blood bath of 1914/18, keep referring to how war brought peace to Europe and how we all live in harmony now. The so called peace that followed that dreadful avoidable slaughter, lasted a mere 21 years, before they were at it again, spreading the blood of youth  across the globe. They wax lyrically about how Europe has known peace since their last blood letting of 1939/45. That of course is a lie. There may have been peace in most countries in Europe, but we were busy doing our blood thing across the globe. The list of wars, battles, interventions, and attempts to thwart independence movements across the empire, is a long unending catalogue of bloodshed.
This is by no means a complete and definitive list, but it does give some idea of what they mean by peace.
After the 1914/18 blight on humanity, we have had:
1918/20, Intervention in Russia civil war.
1919/23, Turkish war of independence.
1919/19, Third Anglo-Afghan war.
1919/21, Irish war of independence.
1920/20, Somalialand campaign.
1920/20, Great Iraqi revolution.
1936/39, Great Arab revolt in Palestine.
1938/48, British Zionist conflict.
1939/45, Second World War.
1945/49, Indonesian National revolution.
1945/46, Vietnam, Operation Masterdom.
1946/47, Greek civil war.
1948/60, Malayan emergency.
1950/53, Korean war.
1951/54, Suez Canal zone emergency.
1952/60, Mau Mau uprising.
1955/60, Cyprus.
1956/57, Suez Crisis.
1962/66, Indonesia - Malaysia.
1962/75, Dhofar rebellion.
1963/67, Aden emergency.
1982/82, Falklands war.
1982/84, Lebanon.
1991/91, Gulf War.
1992/96, Bosnia.
1998/98, Desert Fox Iraq.
1998/99, Kosovo.
2000/02, Siera Leone civil war.
2001/----, Afghanistan, 4th Anglo-Afghan war.
2003/09, Iraq war.
2011/11, Libyan Intervention. 2011,
2011, Syria
Most of these conflicts were against people trying to free themselves from the British Imperialists. While we were merrily sending our youth to foreign shores to repress and kill, we were proudly proclaiming how we were living in peaceful Europe. As we done our imperial killing across the globe, other European countries were doing likewise, but our efforts were dwarfed by the new mighty imperial nation, US of A.
This is the pattern of capitalist peace, slaughter for wealth and power, death for resources and profit. Nothing will change until we change the system, and consign this exploitative system of capitalism to the dustbin of history.

An On Going Battle.

A Battle Yet To Be Won.

At the crack of dawn with weapons drawn
We seek that better tomorrow
where freedom blooms like flowers in a wild meadow
Justice drips from ever leaf on every tree
Heart’s desires run wild, a herd of prancing fawns
Unchained, unfettered, imagination hurtles us
Towards a better world, of bright sparkling dawns.
In the stream of liberty we cleanse our minds
Of wars, fear, violent death and anguish
Heal the scars of alienation, poverty and exploitation
Hand our children the heritage they desire and deserve
A life of freedom, peace and plenty
Unshackled potential guarded by friendship and co-operation.
The battle is not yet won
So, each day we must
At the crack of dawn with weapons drawn
Seek that better tomorrow.

Spirit of Revolt And Conscientious Objectors.

Remember remember the 5th of November??
Why remember that date? Well, Monday 5th. of November is the date of Spirit of Revolt's next Show and Tell, outreach event. This one, organised by our archivist Paula, is on Conscientious Objectors and has already raised considerable interest. It is in the form of an open discussion which will be opened by group member, Eric Chester. On display will be various articles from our archive on the subject. We at Spirit of Revolt try to bring the people to the archive, and bring their history to the people.
This event is a "must not miss", is held in conjunction with the Mitchell Library and is on the 5th. floor of the Library, in the Blythswood Room, 12-2pm. Conscientious Objectors are a group that the establishment never give much, if any, publicity to, they would rather that you forget the heroic stance taken by thousands of individuals against the barbarity of war and the reasons behind every war. This is a FREE event of tremendous relevance in these troubled times.
Details:
Monday 5th. November, 12.00-2.00pm.
Mitchell Library, 5th. floor, Blythswood Room,
Free event.

Call-Out To All Faslane Peace Camp Members.

Spirit of Revolt is always working hard to record, catalogue and make accessible to the public at large, the history and struggles of the ordinary people. Recently we have been in touch with members, past and present, of the Faslane Peace Camp, in an attempt to archive the history of this world renown struggle for world peace. We want it to be recorded, more widely known, and easily accessible. To this end this is a call out to members of the Faslane Peace Camp, past and present, to get in touch with their stories, photos, posters and other memorabilia.

From Jane, a former member of the camp:

Call out to all former Faslane Peace Campers.
Faslane Peace Camp – Resisting Nuclear Weapons Since 1982 – Preserving our History

Since Faslane Peace Camp was first set up in June 1982 many people have lived there and for weeks, months and years made the camp their home. Many more have visited and joined in protests and nonviolent action organised by the camp against Trident, the UK’s nuclear weapons system based at Faslane.
Now campers past and present are collaborating with Spirit of Revolt to gather together material to compile an archive of the history of the camp so far. Spirit of Revolt are based at The Mitchell Library in Glasgow although they maintain ownership of their collections and they also have an archivist working with a team of volunteers to scan material to make it available on their website. http://spiritofrevolt.info
Spirit of Revolt are interested in a wide array of material from the Peace Camp including newsletters, photographs, leaflets and posters, minutes of meetings, correspondence involving strategy and tactics, mementos, poems and stories. All of this can be helpful in getting a good picture of what the Peace Camp stands for and how it has evolved over time.
Please share this call out for archive material and contact Spirit of Revolt  if you would like to donate material, volunteer to help with this project or would like to be involved in an aural history project about Faslane Peace Camp.  Contact info@spiritofrevolt.info   or use the contact form on their website http://spiritofrevolt.info/contact/  (please don’t take things to the Mitchell Library without getting in touch first)
There is also a Facebook group page for former campers to meet and discuss what material we have dug out and piece together our history. https://www.facebook.com/groups/207759269813590/
You have to join the group if you want to be able to post to it.

War Is The Poor Killing The Poor, Ordered By The Rich.

As collapsing capitalism blunders on with its “endless wars” policy, in an attempt to revive its failing, brutal system of profitable exploitation, more and more people are seeing wars for what they are. Gone are the illusions of defending democracy, fighting terrorism, and the host of other phoney propaganda spouted by the various states, it is now accepted that wars are capitalisms way of defending and expanding the various imperialist powers' assets. States are the opposing corporate world's hit men.
We are seeing more and more people taking a stand against this slaughter of the innocent, this stand has many strands. Here in Scotland, The Scottish Peace Network, a coalition of peace and anti-militarist organisations, is attempting to give a public face to this growing anti-war movement. They are organising a open gathering at the Donald Dewar statue at the top of Buchanan Street Glasgow, on Wednesday, March 16th at 6:30pm. The main theme will be. “stop the bombing of Syria and Iraq” and oppose militarism. Everybody is welcome, please come along, even for a short period, to show your anger and disgust at this continual destruction and waste of human life. Bring banners, placards and leaflets if you can, but please bring yourself. The idea is to make this a monthly event, to continually raise awareness of our country's militarist stance, with your help this will happen.
Another aspect of the state's love and need of war, is its attempt to send its military representatives into our schools, especially the schools in the more deprived areas. With their glossy pictures and fancy uniforms and talk of free travel, adventure and training, they hope to mesmerise the young susceptible kids, kids whose potential is already being stunted by their environment, into believing this is a career choice. There are no photos of the maimed and dead soldiers, there are no facts about the young lives destroyed by the trauma of war, no mention about the suicides of ex-soldiers, no discussion about the ex-soldiers who end up in prison and/or homeless.
This is an insidious and callous recruiting exercise by the state, of our poorest and most vulnerable young people, to fill the ever increasing gap in the needs of their imperialist war machine. We have to put an end to this sweeping up of our young to be sacrificed on the altar of capitalist's wars.
Challenging Military Visits to Schools in Scotland.
March,15th. At 6:00pm
STUC in Glasgow Scotland.

This public meeting at Glasgow's Scotland Trade Union Congress (STUC) from 7-9pm on Tuesday 15 March is to raise awareness about a petition to scrutinise Armed Forces visits to schools in Scotland.
Another strand of this world wide disgust at the the endless war policies of the world's powers is A World Beyond War who are organising a global campaign against the destructive waste of the world's military spending.
World Beyond War encourages everyone to take part in the Global Day of Action on Military Spending (actually multiple days: April 5 - 18, and in the United States April 16-18 in particular).
Resources for planning a World Beyond War event are here, including a Prezi and a Powerpoint that make it easy.
Upcoming events all over the world are here. To tell us about more events we should be listing contact Sandra Osei at Soseitwumasi@gmail.com. For help planning your event, contact Bob Fantina at wbwcanada@gmail.com.
        And here's something to celebrate:

Ordinary people don't want to kill ordinary people, which is the basic essence of war. So why tolerate it, why take part in it? War is the poor killing the poor, ordered by the rich. There are a myriad of avenues to suit everybody to take a stand against this insanity. A world without war is possible.

"A Bundle Of Bloody Rags."

War is state terrorism inflicted on people in another country, war is the expansion of imperialism, and the defence of the power of the imperialists. In this insane capitalist system, war is also a massive creator of profit for a conglomeration of corporate interests. War is never in the interests of the ordinary people.

"A Bundle of Bloody Rags"

But twenty summer suns had past since his first breath
was drawn,
An upright, clean, and manly boy, with hope and vigour
born
Afresh each day, and in whose eyes the light of
knowledge shone---
But now a torn and bleeding thing it was I looked
upon
As he in fearful torment lay beneath a ruined bridge,,
Where he had crawled on palsied knees that morn at
Vimy Ridge.
I saw him clutch the air and fall, I heard his awful shout,
A jagged piece of riven shell had torn his entrails out;
I knelt and whispered in his ear at that accursed place,
And painfully he turned his head and stared into my face;
His eyes were eyes of hunted brutes, his mouth had
gnawed the sand,
And at his ghastly wound in pain he clawed with frenzied
hand.
Although I knew his day of hope had changed to hopeless
night,
I said, "Cheer up, old comrade, we will patch you up
all-right.
Come, let me get you out of this"--He looked with
frightened eye,
And murmered, "Jim, don't touch me. Christ! O,
Christ, why don't i die?
Jim, Jim---you've got a bayonet there----if you have pity
too,
Then send me west, old Jimmy, pal-----for God's sake,
Jimmy do"
Then a madness came upon him----it was madness that I
knew----
For he cursed the one he loved the most, as madmen
always do,
I listened, for I loved him, though my body burned with
shame,
When he with one despairing shriek pronounced his
mother's name;
I say with shame I listened, for I knew the boy of old,
And the love of kin was graven deep upon his heart of gold,
But now with hatred in his voice he screamed, "No dying
kiss
for you, you fiend in human form who shaped my soul
for this;
Who fed my growing body in your lust-empoisoned
womb,
And wove my mind with crooked lies upon a twisted
loom;
Who sent me here with honeyed words to slaughter or to
maim,
That you in empty pride might boast one hero in the
game,
"Heroes! God! more like are we the spawn of hellish
hags,
"Heroes! Piles of broken bones and heaps of bloody
rags.
Your handiwork, your devil's deed, for this you gave me
birth,
Your contributio to the flames of this foul hell called
Earth----
If you could see this---- this----
thing---once---once---held---by----you----in----pride---
If----you----could----Oh! my God!----the----pain!"----- with
one mad scream he died.
I heard the rattle in his throat, and saw the yellow froth
Of death creep o'er his pallid lips, and bubble as in
wrath;
I wiped it off, and gentle closed each glazed wide-open
eye,
Then shook my fist in fierce revolt unto the callous sky,
And hurled damnation through the reek of the blood-
stricken sod
Unto the grinning ape that man has deignated God.
Oh! May I never live to watch another comrade die;
The bloody foam upon his mouth, the wild and staring
eye;
For never, if I live to be a hundred years or more,
Shall I forget that ghastly sight upon the field of war---
the gaping wound, the tortured look, and what to me
was worse,
The hate demonical of that dying madman's curse.
-----------------------------------------------------------
I hear it still with horror, though indeed I allways knew
That he had cursed when most he loved, as madmen
always do.

Workers Know Your History.

Despite all the pomp and ceremony marking the start of the blood letting of the imperialist land grab, that goes by the name of WW1, and the lies that they pump out, we should keep repeating, "It was the working class that stopped the slaughter", not the stupid, arrogant generals, not the so called "military strategists", it was the ordinary people in countries across the globe. It was their revulsion at the slaughter, and their desire for peace across borders, that silenced the guns, and saw the blood stop flowing. All contrary to the aims of the ruling classes and the capitalist system.
The struggles that brought the imperialist bloodshed to an end, are not over, the workers may have lost the first real battle, but we will win the final one, and eventually over throw this system of capitalism, which is a blot on the history of humanity.
As I keep repeating, "Workers Know Your history."

WAR WITHOUT END!!!

It is difficult to read through history and find a period when this state has not been at war with that state. If it has not been actual physical war it has been threatening war. With that state hurtling abuse at the next state, each proclaiming their threats have a righteous legitimacy. War is never caused by the people, never is it a case of a bunch of German truck drivers running across the border and attacking a group of French florist. It is always the state, the power mongers, the powerful and the wealthy, egged on by wealthy groups with a vested interest and the people are the ones who are called on to get on with the slaughter and be slaughtered. While the people bleed the various states and the privileged parasitical wealthy collect the gains.

As long as we hold on to this system of state power, each power structure will see the other as a threat. The wealthy power groups in each state will demand that their interests, wealth and privileges be protected and enhanced at the expense of any co-operation. Wealth is enhanced by grabbing what belongs to others and violence is the state's and the privileged parasites main method, since they don't actually get involved in the violence. Those who actually have to do the “violence” gain nothing. Hence, under the present system we will have war without end.

"Well, there’ve always been people going around saying someday the war will end. I say, you can’t be sure the war will ever end. Of course, it may have to pause occasionally–for breath, as it were–it can even meet with an accident–nothing on this earth is perfect–a war of which we could say it left nothing to be desired will probably never exist. A war can come to a sudden halt–from unforeseen causes–you can’t think of everything–a little oversight, and the war’s in the hole, and someone’s got to pull it out again! The someone is the Emperor or the King or the Pope. They’re such friends in need, the war has really nothing to worry about, it can look forward to a prosperous future."
Bertolt Brecht, Mother Courage (1938)
