They Want Your Water And Your NHS.

There is a lot of campaigning against TTIP, and rightly so, but there is still a lot of confusion among the general public as to what it really is, and what it intends to cover. Basically it covers almost everything in our lives, it is all to the benefit of the corporate world and to the detriment of the ordinary people. That's it in a nutshell, but the detail is more complex.

One little piece speaks volumes, it intends to take water and health, out of public hands and into private corporate hands, and all this negotiated between governments and corporate bodies, behind closed doors away from the prying eyes of the public.

This from Xpressed:
2. To consolidate the liberalisation of services markets. This is a euphemism that sounds great, but it starts to sound really bad when you go into the details of what is on the negotiating table:
- Privatisation of water supply, in line with both the interests of European and American multinationals [17].
- The Americans have confirmed their intention to negotiate the opening of public health and education services, taking advantage of the privatisation dementia affecting European governments.
Read the full article HERE:

How dangerous this TTIP is to you and I is summed up in that one small part in the long and complex set of demands by the corporate world, privatisation of our water and our health service. If agreed, it will make no difference which party you vote in to govern over you, they will be bound by international law to go down the road of private water and private health service. They call it democracy, what would you call it?

World Corporatism.

TTIP, world corporatism takes control, unless we stop them. David Cameron, friend of big business, is their minder in Westminster.
This from 38 Degrees:
American corporations suing our government? Exposing our NHS to competition from the US health industry? What’s your top reason for wanting to stop TTIP?
38 Degrees members have forced this shadowy trade deal up the political agenda. [1] As a result, next week, I’ve been asked to go and explain our campaign to a powerful committee of MPs. I want to make sure I’m speaking for you.
Please can you fill in a quick survey to tell me what to say? It will mean I can represent you properly. And my message to MPs will be so much more powerful if I can say it’s coming from thousands of us.
The meeting is next week, so I need to start getting ready this weekend! Please can you fill in the survey as soon as you can? Thank you!
https://secure.38degrees.org.uk/ttip-evidence

I’m up in front of the committee of MPs which looks into the government’s Business Department - they’re in charge of TTIP. [2] It’s a chance to tell this influential group of MPs how bad TTIP is. I want to show them just how determined we are to stop big corporations hijacking our democracy.
So far our campaign has made the government nervous. But they’re still trying to press ahead. David Cameron's now saying he wants to put “rocket boosters” under TTIP to get the deal back on track. [3] This is a chance to show the government that no amount of "rocket boosting" TTIP is going to stop our campaign.
The survey will only take a couple of minutes. I’d hugely appreciate it if you could fill it in now:
https://secure.38degrees.org.uk/ttip-evidence

I'm looking forward to hearing what you think and I’ll let you know how I get on.

Thank you,
David
PS: There's another sign that our campaign is starting to get noticed. The minister in charge of TTIP, Vince Cable, has said that he is willing to hear from 38 Degrees members directly about their concerns. The office team will keep you posted as soon as we have more details. In the meantime, please let me know what I should say to MPs next Tuesday: https://secure.38degrees.org.uk/ttip-evidence

PPS: You may also be interested in a big meeting in London on 1 December with a group of MPs who are already against TTIP. It will be a chance to hear from them about how we can most effectively put pressure on other MPs. The office team will attend and report back, but if you’d like to attend yourself you can find more details and sign up here: https://secure.38degrees.org.uk/ttip-westminster

The Monster TTIP, Still Lives.

It is still there lurking in the murky shadows of the marble halls of power, the monster that is TTIP, but the voices of anger are rising. Let's raise our whisper to a roar.

This from World Development Movement:
People power is working! After months of protests across Europe the EU is wavering on the EU-US trade deal (TTIP). Leading representatives including the newly appointed EU president Jean-Claude Juncker have hinted that ISDS could be removed from TTIP.
This is a crucial moment to keep up the pressure on decision makers
More than 750,000 people have already signed the European petition to stop TTIP. Our pressure on policy makers is working, but we need your support to make sure we defeat this undemocratic trade deal.
Help us reach 1 million voices against TTIP
TTIP threatens to transfer power from elected governments to unaccountable corporations by giving big business a much bigger say in law-making. And if that wasn’t bad enough TTIP could also undermine some of our most precious rights and regulation to protect our environment, workers and food safety.
Add your voice to the protest against undemocratic trade deals like TTIP
Together we can defeat TTIP and fight for a fair trade system.

TTIP, Secret Talks And Corporate Lobbyists.

More on TTIP from SumOf Us:

Environmental standards, workers’ right and food hygiene are all under the chopping block with TTIP. And even worse: these incredibly sensitive policy areas are being negotiated away in secret -- so far only lobbyists of the big corporations have had access to EU lawmakers.
But this is about to change. The European Ombudsman -- the place where European citizens can lodge complaints about EU politics -- has opened a formal investigation into TTIP and its lack of transparency following pressure from civil society. We have only 7 days left to write to the Ombudsman and let her know how we feel about our rights being negotiated away in a secret trade deal.
While lobbyists of the big corporations from Monsanto to Nestle to Exxon Mobile have been going in and out of meetings with lawmakers in Brussels, ordinary citizens are often standing in front of closed doors. That has to change!
We need actual citizens’ participation in a process that is going to affect our lives as profoundly as the TTIP. We need true access -- to the negotiating documents, the meeting reports and full transparency about which lobbyists are meeting with European lawmakers.
Here is what you need to do: write an email to the European Ombudsman to demand full transparency about the TTIP and in particular the comings and goings of corporate lobbyists. It will only take a few minutes but it will be totally worthwhile.
Here are some talking points you could use for your email:
  • The EU should be extremely open and transparent and immediately release all information on the TTIP negotiations, especially when it concerns areas such as environmental standards, workers’ rights and health and safety.
  • The EU should lay open all communication between lobbyists of big business. Sadly, so far business had way more access to negotiations than normal citizens. That needs to change.
  • The EU should release a list of all the meetings that corporations have had with lawmakers.
Remember: the more personal your message, the more likely it will be read by the Ombudsman.
The leaders of the European Union are starting to really feel the people’s discontent with this secret trade deal. And this is also thanks to you. Thousands of SumOfUs members complained to the EU Commission about corporations being able to sue governments -- the ISDS clause in TTIP. Many of you have chipped in to support our TTIP work and the development of the European Citizens’ Initiative. Now is the time to keep up the pressure!
     Thanks for all you do,
Anne, Hannah, and the team at SumOfUs

Kill TTIP.

The pressure must be kept up to defeat what is corporatism's drive to control the world. It dominates so much of our lives at present the implementing of TTIP would be the complete demise of any shred of democracy of which we might have a finger hold.
 An Appeal From WDM:
This weekend tens of thousands of people across Europe took part in more than 1,100 protests against the EU-US trade deal (TTIP). You may have been one of them. With this many people taking action, we could stop the TTIP negotiations.
Now is the time to take action to stop TTIP.
In just 5 days more than 500,000 people have signed the European Citizens’ Initiative opposing TTIP, a petition set up by more than 200 European organisations, including WDM. People across Europe are taking action against the increased powers TTIP would give to multinational corporations to sue governments and the effects the deal could have on our environment, food safety, public services and workers’ rights.
Help us reach 1 million signatures to stop TTIP.
Thanks to the thousands of people who have been taking action in the UK, TTIP is now being covered by the mainstream media. Local newspapers have printed hundreds of letters about TTIP, last Friday the Independent front page story quoted WDM about TTIP and the BBC Breakfast show covered Saturday’s massive day of action.
Take action now to make your voice heard.
Thanks for your support of the campaign against TTIP.

Together, we can defeat TTIP.

Best wishes,
Morten Thaysen, WDM

Stop TTIP.

I have often spouted that we are not governed by our so called "elected" government, but by the international financial Mafia. How ever, if this secretly negotiated deal, TTIP, goes through, it will without a shadow of doubt shatter any illusion of democracy that might still be held. The world will be one big corporate empire, our lords and masters will undoubtedly be international corporatism, capitalism will be king.
An Appeal from 39 Degrees:
A deal that could permanently privatise our NHS is being negotiated in secret right now. It's called the Transatlantic Trade Investment Partnership, or TTIP for short, and this EU-US trade deal is one of the most dangerous ever written. [1] Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have the power to scupper it. But first they need to feel the pressure from the people they represent - us, the public. Can you add your name to a huge EU-wide petition and help convince them? Click here to sign:

Today, thousands of 38 Degrees members are out on the streets campaigning against TTIP and collecting signatures for this petition. The shady deal would allow big corporations to sue our government if they don't like our laws. Simply raising minimum wage could drag our government into a lawsuit that could cost taxpayers millions. [2] The same sort of deal is being negotiated with Canada called CETA. [3] Both of these massive deals have been negotiated behind closed doors. Now people across Europe are uniting to force them out into the open.
If TTIP and CETA can be pushed to the top of the political agenda in the EU, then MEPs will be forced to say whether they support it or not. Your signature, along with hundreds of thousands of others from countries including Germany, France and Italy, can help move these dangerous deals into the spotlight.
There are millions of 38 Degrees members in the UK alone, and there's millions more people across Europe who want to stop TTIP. Will you add your name? Please click the link to sign the petition: https://secure.38degrees.org.uk/ttip-eu
Working across borders which usually divide us can have a really powerful impact. This pettion is organised by 240 organisations and signed by people from all 28 EU countries. We may all live in different places and speak different languages - but together, we all stand against TTIP, and that sends a strong message. [4]
Thanks for being involved,
Belinda, India, James and the 38 Degrees team
