Spread "Thi Wurd".

Calling all you poets, writers, wordsmiths, and lovers of such, there is a great night coming up soon. It is the launch of the 3rd issue of the magazine "Thi Wurd", Spirit of Revolt is delighted to be able to have a stall at this event. Do come along and support all those involved in creating this great event in our city centre.
This message from one of the organisers:

Hi Everybody,
Just a message to let you know that thi wurd issue 3 is being launched at The Old Hairdressers, Renfield Lane, G2 5AR, 6.30pm till late, on October 3rd, 2018, entry £2. The magazine is 125 pages long and features a lengthy interview with James Kelman as well as the opening chapter of Kelman's forthcoming novel. It also features a new story by Janice Galloway as well as other fiction, essays and illustrations. On the night of the launch James Kelman will be reading from his work, and there should be time for a live interview with him. In addition, several other writers will be reading. There will be music played and a bar. Everyone is welcome. Please alert friends, writers, readers, Kelman fans, etc. This will be a unique literary event and the more people we can get the word to (or thi wurd) the better.
Help with promotion would be greatly appreciated, so if anyone can spread the details of the night on Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, websites, etc, it'd be a great help.
I'm not personally on social media but I've decided to ask someone to reactivate thi wurd twitter (after it was barely employed and has been dormant for quite a while). Further details of the evening will appear in tweets in the lead-up to the event, so please follow us if you can and please retweet @thiwurd.
Hopefully see you there. It should be an excellent night.

Cheers Alan

Reminder, International Women's Day, Glasgow Event.

International Women's Day is just three days away, March 8th. and Glasgow is marking this day with an event in the city centre. So come along celebrate this international event, come and meet like minded people, come along and have a chat, make new friends, meet old friends, stand up for equality, and you don't have to be a women to come and support this event. Let's make it a big happy event.

An International Women's Day event, initiated by the Equality Officers of the Clydeside Branch of the Industrial Workers of the World, will be held on Thursday, the 8th of March.
The rally and Walk of Pride will assemble at 4.30 pm at the La Pasionaria statue located on the north bank of the River Clyde next to Glasgow Bridge, opposite the Custom House on Clyde Street.
This site was chosen because of the prominent role Dolores Ibarruri, called La Pasionaria ('The Passionate Flower') played in the Spanish Civil War of 1936-1939, in defense of the Spanish Republic; and because the statue of her by sculptor Arthur Dooley so beautifully represents the revolutionary woman of courage that she was-- and that many of us strive to be.
The rally will also honour the Scottish revolutionary, Ethel MacDonald, who was a key figure in the Scottish anarchist movement and in the Spanish Civil War. In 1936 she was sent by the United Socialist Movement to Barcelona where she became world-renowned as the English-speaking reporter for an anarchist radio station. She also remained an activist, daringly organising hunger strikes among the political prisoners, smuggling in letters, and helping some escape .

The rally will feature a banner that says Celebrate International Women's Day For a World Free from Capitalism and Patriarchy, singing, and an open mic.
At 5.30 pm we will start our Walk of Pride, with banner and placards, to George Square where we will join up with the Scottish Irish Abortion Rights campaigners for a #Solidarity4Repeal demo at 6 pm-- thus linking it to one of the most critical issues of the day: access to abortion as a woman's right. Throughout the afternoon, we will be proudly expressing our belief that Sisterhood, and Comradeship, are Powerful!
All are welcome to attend. Please spread the word.

A Night To Remember, And A Calendar!!

The last count down to the musical event you will not want to miss, Spirit of Revolt's fund raiser, on Wednesday 20th December, at The Old Hairdressers, 20-28 Renfield Lane, doors open 6:45, the show gets under way 7pm. It is shaping up to be a night you will remember, see you there.
Spirit of Revolt is run by volunteers, with no affiliation to political parties or trade unions, we rely on our friends and comrades donations and our fund raising efforts to keep this valuable resource growing and available to the general public. This year as well as our annual raffle, we have put together a special Calendar, (A4 size) that no self respecting anti-authoritarian would want to be without. It is unique and informative, it will be on sale at the event on Wednesday, but for those poor individuals who will miss the event, but would like the calendar, drop us a line, john(dot)c(dot)at95@btinternet.com and if you are local to Glasgow we will get it to you within a couple of days. This brilliant anarchist calendar will only cost you a miserly £5.
