You Get Cyanide, They Get Gold!!!

We in this country don't here much about Romania, our babbling brook of bullshit, the mainstream media, is more interested in Prince Andrew being stopped by the police, or trying to persuade us that, to kill more Syrians would be in our national interest. However, in Romania there have been massive protests against what is the largest open pit mining project in Europe, and shale gas fracking. I previously posted about this criminal act HERE. The mining project is to extract gold from a beautiful mountain area, and in the process, devastating the area and wild life, poisoning the land and surrounding rivers with cyanide, among a cocktail of other toxins. When we allow a handful of very rich people to destroy our natural world, poison our rivers and water table, so that the same rich handful of people can get even richer, the you know that we live in an insane system. Destruction on a massive scale for GOLD? This blatant destruction and plunder of a country by a bunch of bloated parasites has to be stopped, The people of Romania have made it clear they don't want this to happen, and they deserve our support and solidarity. Please spread this around your networks, blogs, websites, or by what ever means available. We have to do this ourselves, we can't expect that babbling brook of bullshit, the mainstream media, to to get involved.

But the people said NO. This NO was for gold mining with cyanide, this NO was for shale gas fraking, this NO was for many actions that could damage, for ever, the nature that still surrounds us.
In the first Sunday, the 1st of September, we were more than 15.000 in total, in all the cities that were protesting against gold mining and shale gas fracking. We were more than last year, in 2012, when, for more than 40 days, we protested against the Government. Two Governments fell, and the third, the present one, made more illegal and bad things to the people, than those before it. Including the Roşia Montană project, and shale gas fracking.

A Cyanide Lake And A poisoned Danube.

The fight against fracking in the UK is on a small scale and very localised. However in Romania the corporate greed machine is moving into top gear to rip the heart out of a beautiful mountainous area by poisoning it with cyanide and other pollutants to get at gold and silver, while fracking for shale gas in other areas. This is being met with nationally organised resistance, the people of Romania have had enough of corrupt politicians in deals with the equally corrupt corporate world. They broke from the brutal Soviet regime and found themselves in the vicious corporate world. They now want to break free from the shackles of corporate exploitation to control their own lives, and they are calling for international solidarity.

In the last couple of years, people from Romania forgot that they had a voice, that they had power, that they could change something. Many accepted the current situation of poverty and corruption, and forgot that they could unite and fight together. But Chevron and RMGC (Roşia Montană Gold Corporation – the Romanian "child” of the Canadian corporation) with the complicity of the state obliged us to wake up! People are very angry, they are fed up with what is happening for the last 24 years, since the so-called Revolution of ’89. They have had enough of the corrupt and dysfunctional political system and of the exploitative economical system. Every hope of this situation being just a phase of a wild capitalism (kind of local, Balkan – corrupt capitalism) that migrates towards a civilized, rule of law kind of capitalism has vanished. Since the states regulates by law theft and destruction what is the meaning of law? Who benefits from the law and who are it’s victims? It is time to act!

THE END IS NEAR???

While we hear of the demonstrations in Greece and see the scenes of violence and repression on our screens the message seems to be that it is just Greece that is the problem, and once that is sorted everything will be just fine. However, as I keep saying, this is not a national problem, it is not something that the Greek people have done wrong and now they have to pay. What is happening in Greece is happening across the developed world, it is all a matter of degree. You would be hard pushed to find a country in the developed world that doesn't have mass demonstrations by the ordinary people shouting against what is being imposed on them by the financial Mafia. Country after country is ripping up the “social contract” with its people and forcing through “austerity” measures, in other words taking the contents of the public purse and giving it to the bankers, at the dictate of the corporate fascists.

Each country likes to portray the unrest in other countries to convey the impression that we're OK, It is that other bunch over there that has the problems. However, if you have a system where there is not a country in that system that doesn't have mass angry demonstrations day in day out, weekend after weekend, then you have to ask yourself, is this system working? Is this system seeing to the needs of the people? Is this system worth keeping? Or is this a system that only sees to the desires of a small bunch of parasites at the expense of the vast majority of the people? What we are facing is a system of corporate fascism, an elitist system that will crush any group of people in an attempt to hold onto that privileged position, today Greece, to morrow Portugal, then Ireland, Spain and Italy with perhaps Romania and Hungary along the way. Meanwhile, those who don't suffer the same deprivation, cruelty and insult as the Greek people will still be hit with “austerity” cuts and the demise of the social fabric of our society.
