subMedia.

subMedia, always a great place to visit for the latest in videos, anarchist comment and discussion, they have revamped their website so why not take a look.

We’re stoked to announce that we now have a new website! As always, you can find us at http://sub.media/ We’ve been working our asses off getting this together so let’s go over exactly what changes we made.
The most important thing we did was move our entire back catalogue of videos over to the Kolektiva severs! It was an enormous pain but we really needed to find a solution that supported subtitles/closed captioning after JWPlayer dropped that functionality from their last update. (Fuck you JWPlayer)
Then we had to update all the embed codes on all the videos on our site. Since we had to do this on hundreds of videos, our resident social media troll still has carpal tunnel.
Then we cleaned up a ton of broken links to old articles and also took a bunch of 3rd party videos off of our site. But don’t worry, those OPV’s (other people’s videos) can still be found on Kolektiva!
When you’re on the homepage the 1st thing you may notice is a huge image for a video that will eventually slide to reveal more videos. This will always have be our most recent content! Below that are sliders for our videos organized by category.
At the top of the site, we have a header bar with drop menus, links to about us, our contact page, our shop and a donate button (it’s pink!) You can now support us monetarily by clicking a more aesthetically pleasing pink donate button, wink wink. We also added new ways for people in the US and Canada to donate by accepting Venmo, Cashapp, and Interac E-Transfers
You might also notice we have a language tab. There is now a Portuguese translation of our website and much of our content. We're working on adding Portuguese subtitles to even more!
Thank you so much for your ongoing support of subMedia! We hope that this website is more accessible, easier to navigate and will help new people find engaging anarchist and anti-colonial content for years to come!

Bad News.

With all the propaganda spewing out of most of the mainstream media, it is necessary that we develop our own media, podcasts/videos/newspapers and get our point of view across. From the streets to the communities, from meetings to workplaces, we need to communicate our ideas for that better world for all, via our own channels and short circuit the main avenues of corporate and state propaganda.

Bad News is a regular and well informed source of information , we should support it and create other avenues for propagating our ideas.

Bad News: Episode #53: Welcome to the 53rd edition of Bad News. This is our Angry Voices From Around The World for February, 2022. A report from the international network of anarchist and anti-authoritarian radios.

Ideas.

Some interesting questions, how do we propagate the communities and workplaces with our ideas, how do we make anarchism mainstream, after all that is the aim, is it not? However as long as we rely on the corporate world for our communications and have the mainstream media as a source of information, our ideas will walk the back streets and the lonely lanes, just strange tales to the majority. Of course we don't need to go to San Francisco for such discussions, they can be organised in every town, city and village, we might be pleasantly surprised what comes out of it all.

Anarchistic Media & Pop Culture and Why We Should Make Our Own Media (A Brief Presentation & Participatory Discussion)

Where: Bound Together Books (1369 Haight Street, San Francisco, CA)
When: Friday November 12, 2021 (7 pm - 8:30 pm ish)
Why: ? Not sure, bored ?

"How It Started/How It's Going": Anarchistic Media & Pop Culture and Why We Should Make Our Own Media (A Brief Presentation & Participatory Discussion with Dane Michael)
What is anarchistic media & pop culture ? Is it making weird ass memes with dogs punching cops ? Making our own zines with our own perspectives & stories ? Producing magazines/journals, podcasts, autonomous websites (?), and other decentralized, self-organized media compositions outside the dominant culture ? Starting our own infoshops, autonomous community spaces, non-hierarchical collective bookstores, and/or unique cooperative/collective houses for building affinity-centered social relationships ? Posting up flyers, stickers, and graffiti with counternarratives advocating anti-state, anti-capitalist, and anti-hierarchical culture(s) ?
Or is it, ultimately, none of the above, and just making TikTok dance videos ? Or maybe both ? I don't really fucking know, just throwing out ideas...

A Radio-Berlin, Alternative Media.

I often spout on and on about the lack of our papers and leaflets, etc. on the streets, of course paper on the street should not be to the exclusion of all other methods of communicating with the public at large. As anarchists we should always be useing our imagination and all other means available for spreading our ideas. One method that seems too be gaining ground is the podcast/radio and one at the forefront of this avenue is A Radio-Berlin. They draw on info and interviews from all around the planet, and are always worth a visit.

This from A Radio-Berlin:

As Anarchist Radio Berlin we had the opportunity of talking to some comrades from the Anarchist Federation in Great Britain. We already published the first half of this interview as part of our international radio project „Bad News“ in August 2019, focussing on the never-ending topic of Brexit and the possible repercussions on the population. Now you can listen to the complete version of this interview concerning also the back-stop question in Ireland, the anarchist approach to Brexit as such, antifascism and what our comrades learned from the recent Congress of the International of Anarchist Federations, IFA, in Slovenias capital Ljubljana, where this interview was recorded.

You'll find the audio (to listen online or download in different sizes) here:

ANARCHIST RADIO.

Activists and communities across the globe are getting more adept at using, the Internet and social net-working sites to their advantage. The need to communicate to a wider audience is of the utmost importance, so every tool should be used, honed and made into a weapon in our armoury. One tool that I feel that we don't take full advantage of is radio. More and more radical groups are turning to radio but there is still a need for more and to be linked up to form some sort of local-come-national radio network. Creating a full spectrum media system out with the mainstream media, which we all accept is no more than a mouth piece for the state and its master, the corporate world.
This from one active radical radio broadcasting group TheCircledA:

http://thecircleda.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/logo.jpg Dissident Island Radio (http://www.dissidentisland.org/) is a radical internet radio show broadcasting on the first and third Friday of every month from the London Action Resource Centre. They talk about about DIY radio like recently set up Catalyst Radio http://www.catalystradio.org/   which was born from a desire to create a UK wide radical radio network that collectively uses a single Internet platform for the streaming of live and pre-recorded radio content, presenting points of view generally diverging from those of the more established, and mainstream media.
