Death Masks!!

      Your lords and masters are telling you to get back to work, the parasite class need you. Of course they will tell you that your boss will put in place safety measure for your protection. One of those protections may be compulsory wearing of face masks. Sounds all well and good, but under certain working conditions the wearing of face masks could be contributing to your own death. I for one, with chronic restrictive airways disease, would be reluctant to wear a face mask under certain conditions. Working conditions and the environment you work in are just as important as wearing a face mask, but face masks are cheaper.

     If the conditions you are working under are not right, face masks are a danger. Strenuous work, poor ventilation and too hot an environment make face masks a real danger. Fight for these conditions to be remedied before you return to work with your face mask.

        Poland. A few days ago, in an Amazon warehouse near Poznań (Poland), one of the workers died of a heart attack during a night shift. Other employees associate this death with hypoxia and heat – the obligation to wear face masks at work.

      People find it harder to breathe in masks and hence – work harder. Employees wear face masks for up to 10 hours a day. They cannot take them off, because they face the consequences – says Maria Malinowska from the Employee Initiative Inicjatywa Pracownicza IP at Amazon in Sady near Poznań.
       Two years earlier, the Labor Inspectorate was to carry out research on the energy expenditure of Amazon employees near Poznań. According to trade union reports, some departments came across very large exceedances. – Despite this, Amazon has not reduced standards.
      According to Radio Poznań, one of the employees of the magazine said: “Many of us complain about hypoxia. However, we do not take off the masks, because there are threatening reprimands and sanctions. “
      Initially, Amazon, despite the virus threat, did not provide employees with masks at all. After detecting COVID-19 infection in the company’s warehouse near Łódź, carrying them during work became mandatory.

Feminism in Poland.

         Feminism may be a widely discussed and an accept view point in this country and some others, but there are countries where it has never gone mainstream. Anarchist Radio Berlin was present at the recent and very first Feminist Congress in Poland. This is a short interview in English with one of the oraganisers.

The State Only Survives By Tightening Its Grip.

 

      It is universal, states across the globe will always grasp any opportunity to tighten control over the citizens. They will seize every possibility to stifle protest, to silence dissent, total control is their aim. Any excuse that offers itself will be snatched at as a reason to increase surveillance. It is the nature of the beast, it is its only means of survival. A call for solidarity from Poland.

Dear Friends,

       We have been waiting for over a year for the trial of the Warsaw 3. Today, we send this call out for solidarity actions on the first court sitting – the 31st of May 2017.
     There is also a demonstration ‘WE ARE ALL TERRORISTS’ planned for that day in front of the court in Warsaw (adress: Marszałkowska 82).
    The Polish government follows the international trend to see terrorist threat everywhere. There is no better reason to fuel war economy, enhance policing tools and prepare the ground for autocracy than the figure of the enemy. Either external threat – migrants (including kids ready to commit acts of terror), or the inside threat in the form of the domestic terrorism category is at this point commonly used in the whole EU to scare the population into obedience.
      As it is for other countries in the EU, terrorist attacks have been the justification to introduce new security regulations that grant states greater powers and significantly limit those of the peoples. Polish authorities also want to seize their chance to secure their own position riding on the European anti-terror wave. In the wake of the introduction of the new anti-terrorist law in Poland, mainstream media were first reporting the wave of false bomb alarms across the country, when finally they have got what they were waiting for. In the night of the 23rd three anarchists were caught on a parking lot of a police station in an attempt to set a police car on fire.
      For the authorities and their media the arrest posed a long awaited proof that there actually is a terrorist threat in Poland! The arrested three, after being beaten and tortured were thrown into the isolation cells for the most dangerous criminals to be held there for the next 4 months.
    Media theatre had begun and the introduction of the new anti-terrorist law was presented to the public as justified.
     The word ‘terrorist’ was abused by the media to the point of ridiculousness. Since this category is so vague that two individuals labeled as ‘terrorists’ can have almost nothing in common, the authorities have quickly understood it’s usefulness in eliminating potential threat to the their power.
      The Polish state has imprisoned the Warsaw 3, but it wasn’t enough. It has passed 3 new anti-freedom bills, but it wasn’t enough. Then it’s thugs brutally deported a PhD student who didn’t agree to spy for them – we all remember Ameer – but that still was not enough. They also feel the need to keep blackmailing activists, deporting foreigners and criminalize anyone who dares to resist.

We are calling you to take solidarity action on that day.

We are calling you to come to your nearest polish embassy, and show the republic of Poland what you think of it!

The Stae And Repression, Two Sides Of The Same Coin.

 

        Across the world state repression goes on and on, those who struggle for change to a just, open and free society, are the ones who get hit hardest, so anarchists will always be at the sharp end of that state repression. Trumped up charges, fabricated laws to suit the state's grip on the population, and brutal treatment of those caught up in their net of repression, that's the pattern across the globe. Our weapon to fight this savagery against justice and freedom, is solidarity, solidarity across borders. Borders are imaginary lines drawn across our planet by power mongers, to protect their power and privileges. To us, the ordinary people, they don't exist, the world is our village.

SOLIDARITY WITH THE EAST STREET DEFENDANTS

       On Sunday the 21st of June, 2015, an immigration raid on East Street sparked an explosion of rebellion and Solidarity. When Immigration Enforcement officers forced a local man into the back of their van, a crowd of people who live and work in the area, including kids, gathered to prevent his removal. Because of this, riot police were called to the scene.
     Without warning, the riot police violently charged the crowd, knocking people to the ground and attacking them with dogs. Instead of running away, the people in the crowd, now numbering well over a hundred, stood firm and defended themselves. Unable to disperse the crowd, the cops left the area.
      Since then, the man originally detained has been deported and three people have been forced to stand trial at the beginning of October this year. They face massively inflated charges including “violent disorder.” If found guilty they could receive a serious prison sentence.
      At a time when whole estates are being demolished to make way for luxury flats and many are being forced out of their area, when migrants are treated like criminals, held in indefinite detention away from their friends and families, when immigration raids and police harassment are part of daily life, it’s clear that the violence of the order is the real problem. And it is this violence that people on East Street were rebelling against.
       The charge of “violent disorder” is a cynical tactic used to stop such rebellion. By singling out individuals for punishment, the authorities hope to spread fear among us so that we feel unable to defend ourselves. But instead of giving in to fear, the best form of self-defence is to stand in solidarity with each other, just as people did on East Street when their neighbour was detained by Immigration Enforcement in June last year.
      In October this year, solidarity with the East Street Defendants can only mean one thing: continued rebellion against the violent order.

          Updates on anarchist comrades Anna Beniamino and Alfredo Cospito
      These updates have been made known to us directly by the imprisoned comrades Anna Beniamino and Alfredo Cospito:
        Concerning Anna, she tells us that she is in isolation (no tv), is prohibited from meeting with other prisoners and saw censorship of her mail, which she says reaches her fairly quickly.
         Alfredo, instead, is still in isolation, and not only for his solidarity action with the CCF, which the prison court has not yet ruled on yet, but also for the new investigation “Scripta Manent”. He also informed us that being in isolation he has nothing in the cell such as addresses, even the comrades arrested for Scripta Manent.
       I urge comrades to send them the most news, newspapers, and stamps to break the isolation that the nation’s prisons are imposing physically at this time.

Poland:

 We announce that all three of Warsaw are freed.
       After nearly 4 months of absolute isolation we managed to pull them out of jail. This release proves how weak is the police evidence and how “necessary steps” of the prosecution were just playing time, using detention as form of torture to force confessions.
This also proves that solidarity campaigns make sense – not only in moral dimension, but also practically.
What can one do now?
      The solidarity campaign continues – as actual criminal trial is yet to come. Defendants still need our support, mostly in the field of information and finance. The money will be needed for the lawyers and for the return of the deposit. Spreading objective, non-police knowledge of this case and repression also really improves their chances on trial and protects the movement from further repression. Organize collection, meetings, events, circulate posters, leaflets, brochures and this website.
What one shouldn’t do now?
       The moment of release of the arrested is a moment of intense police attention – in recent days more and more often undercovers and other cops are seen observing places important for the movement and trying to infiltrate. This is the worst time to gossip, speculate, fabricate facts, assign to yourselves or others fault, merit, knowledge of the case, and for any other actions based on incomplete / false information.
        If you would like to contact the defendants, think twice whether you’re someone from their loved ones. If not – let them catch their breath and rest – there will be time for our paths to cross, not once.

Protests In Poland, Sound Familiar?

      In country after country in Europe, the people are rising up against the financial/corporate Mafia and its drive to sweatshop Europe. Yesterday, September 14, in Poland, between 100,000 and 120,000 people took to the streets of Warsaw. Armed with banners, drums, whistles, smoke bombs and chants, they brought the city to a standstill. The marches started four days previously and marchers from all over the country converged on the capital Warsaw on Friday. Some of the protester had camped in front of parliament since Wednesday. The complaint is a familiar one, it was not a Polish problem, it was the European problem. They were objecting to the retirement age being raised to 67, the average monthly wage being among the lowest in Europe, and new legislation attacking working conditions, allowing longer daily and weekly working hours. No matter the country, no matter the government in power, be it Labour, Conservative, Christian Democrat, Liberal, or whatever, the policies are all the same, an attack on the living conditions of the ordinary people, the creation of a Europe wide cheap workforce. The European corporate machine has to compete with the Eastern sweatshop economies and you and I must pay the price. Of course there is another way, the demolition of this unjust, exploitative, greed and profit driven system called capitalism and the creation of a needs based society built on mutual aid, voluntary co-operation and free association, founded on equality and sustainability. It is up to us.
