Anarchy.

For January, 2023, “Read of the Month” we at Spirit of Revolt bring you three for one, three copies of Practical Anarchy from early 1982. Apart from the interesting information contained in the pamphlets, it let’s us know that the struggles of today are part and parcel of the struggles of yesterday. It is one long continuous struggle for peace, justice and freedom for all, that is yet to be won. Why not have a browse through our website of thousands of interesting pamphlets, posters, banners, videos, photographs, periodicals, letters and much much more all to do with anarchist and libertarian socialist history and actions, an Aladdin's cave  of the history  of the struggles of the ordinary people. Probably the largest anarchist archive in Scotland, and still growing.

SOR.

Spirit of Revolt Archive is a treasure trove of anarchist and libertarian socialist history from Glasgow and Clydeside area and some from further afield. It is 11 years old and is run by a small dedicate band of unpaid volunteers. We receive no funding from unions, companies or political parties, but sadly we still live in a capitalist world and there are costs involved. We rely solely on the financial support from friends supporters and comrades. We work hard at getting as much material up on line and free to access. If you think we are doing a worthwhile job and would like to see the archive grow and carry on collecting, storing and digitising our history, then perhaps you could think of donating the price of a couple of coffees a month, any donation no matter how little is most appreciated, direct debits gives us a guarantee to plan and develop into the future. Solidarity.

Malatesta.

Covid19 has still got Spirit of Revolt members locked out of their room at the Mitchell Library, but there is still a few things we can do to keep you coming back for another wee look and to encourage you to delve into your own history. So this month Spirit of Revolt has picked a small pamphlet entitled Selected Writings by Errico Malatesta, for their “Read of the Month. Errico Malatesta was an Italian anarchist and revolutionary socialist. Though Italian, he spent much of his life exiled from Italy and over his life time he spent more than ten years in various prisons. As well as being active in the struggle for anarchism, he also wrote and edited a number of radical newspapers and was a friend of Mikhail Bakunin. Born 14 December 1853, he died 22 July 1932.

Read of the Month, SchNEWS.

The "Read of the Month"  on our Spirit of Revolt website is a little different this time. It consists of some cartoons and drawings taken from the Anarchist paper, SchNEWS. The paper was produce by Brighton anarchist over a number of years, and ceased publication 2014.
Some interesting and some amusing, but always with a punch. Spirit of Revolt has a number of issues of SchNEWS in their archive and these are available to view in the Archive Department on the 5th. floor of the Mitchell Library. We will of course be putting them on line at some point, but scanning is a slow process, we have thousands of documents, photos, leaflets, booklets papers and serials etc. to scan and we can always use volunteer scanners, so if you are interest in helping in preserving anarchist, libertarian-socialist history get in touch. info@spiritofrevolt.info
