Our Streets.

 

          Anarchist literature/magazines etc. on the streets seems to be disappearing, probably due to the rush to join the social media realm. However we abandon the streets at our peril. Of course there are still papers and magazines on the street, the Glasgow Keelie for one but we need to flood the streets with our ideas, theories and actions. It is on the streets that we meet new people, strangers who could be influenced by what we hand them. On social media we seem to be speaking to the same people all the time, it's not the way to win over the great politically apathetic silent majority, and we need them.
          Some publications from April 2023, try to get your hands on some, reprint if you can and throw them around. Look for more to spread the word, or better still, start your own and get on the street.

Stormy.

 

          Continuing my love of paper, hard copy, that can end up on the street here is another. The Anarchist Communist Group produce a magazine called Stormy Petrel, it is packed with discussions, articles, theory and info on what is wrong with this society and how we can go about changing it to the society we desire, one that sees to the needs of all our people. Issue No. 3 is now available, and well worth a read.

Authority.

          Well more than a year and we at Spirit of Revolt, thanks to Covid19, are still unable to gain access to our working room at the Mitchell Library. We can and do try to keep things moving as best we can, one of those things we can still do is to keep giving you our "Read of the Month".         This month it is a little known publication called Authority, issue No.2 from 1979. Have a read and perhaps it will tempt you to delve ever deeper into what we have in our archive. There is a lot to read, enjoy and learn from our comrades from the past.

Anarchy.

         Because of the restrictions due to the pandemic we at Spirit of Revolt are still locked out of our room, but still try to keep things moving best we can, Read of the Month is something that we can still do, to bring you little samples of our extensive collection of anarchist/libertarian-socialist history, memorabilia and literature. So for the month of May’s “Read of the Month” we have chosen a publication from our Bratach Dubh Collection, “Anarchy a Journal of Desire Armed” No.9, an anarchist publication with a long history. Spirit of Revolt has a considerable number of issues of this publication, but are always eager to take additional issues in the hope of some day having a complete range. So have a look at what we have and if you have an issue or two that could fill some gaps and are willing to send them, please get in touch through our contact page.
