The "Undesirables" Are To Blame.

As Greece follows the dictates of the financial Mafia and drives the people deeper into deprivation, the anger grows, so the state follows the usual fascist lines and finds scapegoats in all shades of humanity.
This from watchdog.net
First migrants and recent immigrants were rounded up from Greece's streets and forced into internment camps. Then they threw the drug users in. Next came the sex workers, forcibly HIV tested, publicly humiliated, and imprisoned. Now they're coming for transgender men and women and the list of "undesirables" just keeps longer.
Operation Zeus is a cleansing campaign targeting and imprisoning the most vulnerable members of Greek society, accompanied by spikes in racism, gender hate and homophobia.
There are now at least 5,000 people languishing in these hellholes simply for existing — and this month, while warning trans* men and women to "return to normal" or else, the Greek government announced that camp capacity is about to double.
We call on the EU member states to put the pressure on Greece now to stop this abhorrent cleansing campaign now. We can still save the people persecuted under Operation Zeus — but we can't afford to stay silent for long!
PETITION TO EU MEMBER STATES: We cannot afford to sit by while another European country rounds up "undesirables" and imprisons people in camps simply for existing. Let the Greek government know it must release these people now.

At least 5,000 people are languishing in Greek internment camps, and more "undesirables" are added every day.

The Addict As Scapegoat.

As the Greek state continues to follow the dictate of the corporate/financial Mafia in its drive to create sweatshop Europe, the health of the people continues to spiral downwards. Addiction has mushroomed and the facilities to treat addiction have seen the budgets all but disappear. In the cities of Greece addicts are herded and exposed to humiliation, the addict is another scapegoat to be blamed for society's ills.
This is an excerpt from an interesting article, in X-pressed, by Lena Theodoropoulou, on addiction in Greece:
On the 6th and 7th of March 2013, the Greek police, in cooperation with the Centre of Control and Disease Prevention (ΚΕΕΛΠΝΟ), detained 132 drug addicts and forcibly transferred them from the centre of Athens to the Immigration detention centre of Amygdaleza. There, following the orders of the National Centre for Health Operations (ΕΚΕΠΥ), the doctors forced the addicts to undergo medical examination, in order to publish statistics on the spread of the HIV virus in these populations. According to the government, the drug addicts were taken care of and the doctors offered them sandwiches and juices (!) before letting them go. It still remains unknown how these people went from Amygdaleza back to the city centre, from where they had been violently removed. The operation was named “Thetis” and, according to the police statement, “these operations will continue in order to tackle the drug problem and improve the city centre”. Consequently, it looks like the police, besides its original oppressive role, have now assumed a new ‘sanitary’ task: the regulation of public health.
The reaction of rehabilitation centres and other anti-drug organisations was immediate, denoting the obvious illegality of such an operation as the groundless arrest and mandatory registration of personal and medical data of addicts; an absolute violation of basic human rights, going against international agreements, the Constitution and the laws. While the state is working on statistics,

HIV Criminals!!

We are well aware of the Greek fascist government's scapegoating of immigrants but what is less known is their attack on those who have AIDS. One of the governments first "austerity" actions was to close needle exchange clinics, since then HIV in Greece has rocketed. In place of assistance and support, those unfortunate to suffer from this illness are criminalised. The "austerity" axe fell unduly harsh on the Greek healthcare system. Its budget was set to grow by 4% annually but instead has been hit by staff pay-offs, budget cuts and drug rationing. Of course the consequences of this has been a spike in HIV and Malaria, to mention just two of the extra burdens being borne by the people of Greece.

"Austerity" means poverty, poverty means deteriorating health facilities, that in turn means misery for families, increase health risks for children and old age devoid of care and medication. "Austerity" is not an economic term, it is a brutal attack on the living conditions of the ordinary people. It is not an evenly spread set of conditions, the vicious blade of austerity never reaches those who plan and implement the "grand plan". It is you and I that feel the pain of austerity.
None of this is necessary, it is an ideology, it is an economic system to protect and further the wealth of the criminal fraternity at the heart of the financial Mafia that controls our lives. It is not a system set in tablets of stone, it is a man made system that can easily be dismantled and replaced with a more fair, sane and just system based on co-operation, mutual aid, sustainability and the needs of all our people.
A wealthy suit says "austerity" and people die, that is surely a brutal criminal act and should be called to justice.
