Milking It.

Andrew Mitchel MP.

Being an MP can be a very lucrative job, apart from the £81,000+ income plus expenses, you can knock that up quite a bit by offering your influence to companies large and small. A couple of instances of their nice little earners lets you see just how you can milk the label MP. The sums earned are difficult to imagine as an hourly rate. Take for example Andrew Mitchel, Conservative, this eager beaver manages to hold down six other jobs as well as being an MP, these jobs entail 34.5 days work and bring him in a nice little sum of more that £180,000. Is this hourly rate anywhere near what you earn in you day to day job? Then there is Julian Smith Conservative, he manages three more jobs on top of being an MP and for offering them 62-84 hours of his time he earns £144,000. Call it sleaze, or call it selfish greed, or what ever label you wish, it still adds up to milking your position as a supposed “public servant”. Of course these two are not alone, nor are the the biggest earners among our privileged political ballerinas.

Julian Smith MP.

Of course this is nothing new the whole parliamentary system stinks from top to bottom, has done for centuries. The Westminster Houses of Hypocrisy and Corruption have always been an old boys network for the pampered and the privileged. Its members see themselves as above the ordinary citizen, they live in a little bubble alien to you and I. Yet these are the people we allow to legislate how our lives will be run, we expect them to solve our problems, when they don’t even know what our problems are, our daily struggles and problems are alien to them. The greater their wealth the further they drift from our reality.

1%?

Why should people suffer poverty in a world with abundant wealth, especially since it is those very poor who produce that wealth. Without that army of poor the capitalist system would grind to a halt, it depends on them to make its profits, so we can never look to the capitalist economics to solve the problem of the poor, it simply isn't in its DNA. As long as there is poverty in the midst of wealth there will be discontent, at what point will that discontent turn to righteous anger that drives the action to rid our world of the poverty of inequality and the insanity of capitalist economics.

When we talk about climate emergency it is the rich and powerful that tell us we will have to change our way of living. They of course mean us ordinary people, not them, the richest and most powerful. A recent Oxfam report states: "The richest one percent of the world’s population are responsible for more than twice as much carbon pollution as the 3.1 billion people who made up the poorest half of humanity during a critical 25-year period of unprecedented emissions growth."  To my simple mind the first thing we must do to stop the capitalist driven climate suicide journey is get rid of that 1% of the richest billionaire parasites responsible for a massive portion of the earth's carbon footprint. and the only way to do that is bring down the capitalist system that creates and feeds them their unearned opulence, power, and privileges. Poverty always comes with discontent, discontent must breed resistance. In this type of society resistance must be resolute, rebellious until poverty and all its attendant miseries and injustices and the capitalist economics that spawns them, are written into history's annals as human's darkest hour.

When persistence and insistence becomes a war cry that spreads through different territories and in different languages, but with the same language of war as the genuine voice of struggle for the destruction of prison society, capitalist normality, domination and all its devices of assimilation, control and punishment.
This cry came out of prison more than 20 years ago and was reaffirmed again loudly almost 13 years ago and today. It is part of the practical-theoretical arsenal of many in the unavoidable framework of the Social War!!!
“AS LONG AS POVERTY EXISTS THERE WILL BE REBELLION!!!!

Home.

With Priti Patel being accused of swearing and shouting at her staff, and her suggesting that she will turn back those overcrowded inadequate small boats trying to cross the Channel, not only is this inhumane but against internation maritime law, I have decided to print the following poem in full. It is in the slender hope that somehow she might get to read it. Though I doubt that its words will penetrate her thick prejudiced skull. She is a true brick for the fascist state.
The poem was lifted from a Facebook page, no idea who the author is, but someone certainly filled with compassion and love. Obviously much more than Priti Patel with her authoritarian fascist traits.

Warsan Shire, ′′ Home ′′
you don't abandon home unless
house is shark's mouth
you run towards the border only then
when the whole city runs with you
neighbors run faster than you
and the breath is bloody in their throats
boy who went to school with you
who kissed you unconscious
behind the old tin factory
carries a rifle bigger than it
you abandon your home only then
when the house won't let you stay
you don't abandon home unless
house will chase you away
fire under your feet
hot blood in your insides
never even crossed your mind
that you will ever do it
until the blade burned its threats
on your neck
but even then you hum the anthem under your nose
and only in the toilet at the airport are you screaming yours
passport
sobbing because every bite of paper
makes you realize that there will be no return
you have to understand
that no one puts their children in a boat
unless the water is safer than the land
no one burns their hands
under the trains
under the wagons
no one spends days and nights
in the depths of trucks
eating newspapers unless
miles traveled
means more than a trip
no one can crawl under the fences
nobody wanna be beaten
to be an object of mercy
no one chooses refugee camps
nor a personal revision
when your body tears up the pain
not a prison
because jail is safer
than a city on fire
and one prison guard
at night
is better than the whole truck
men of your father's age
no one could stand it
no one could stand it
no one's skin would be hard enough
these ones
ciapaci to go home
refugees
filthy immigrants
asylum
exploiters of our country
begging niggas
stinks
spreading parasites
they broke down their country and now they want to
to smash ours
like these words
those hateful looks
they run down you
maybe because it hurts to hit less
than a broken limb
or that the words are softer
than a dozen men between
with your legs
or that insults are easier
to swallow
than the ruins
Bone
than your child's body
in pieces
i want to go home
but the house is shark's mouth
house is a gun gun gun
and no one would abandon home
unless the house would chase you ashore
unless he told you to
faster to run
to leave my things
crawl through the desert
to wander through the oceans
to drown
to starve
beggar
to abandon pride
your survival is more important though
no one abandons home until the house is
with a sweaty voice in your ears
the talking ones
run away
run away from me immediately
idk what i have become
but i know that everywhere
it's safer than here

Thoughts?

Living in Glasgow close to the Cop-Out-26 Carnival of Illusions it seems more phoney, the hypocrisy seems to scream louder, the waffle and the phoney platitudes much more brazen. If it was a comedy on TV we could laugh, but it was for real, the illusions were meant mesmerise you, instead they angered and baffled you. Now that is all over, the ballerinas will go home and carry on as before. So what are my simple thoughts on this bizarre extravaganza. Apart from the anger, which has increased, and a feeling of "I told you so", and a desire to shout louder, not much. Of course the planet will not dye just most of the life on it, including us weird and stupid humans.

New Life?

You my friend will you be the one to pluck the last flower
perhaps you’ll be the one to chop down that last tree
or maybe you will be the lonely one to eat the last fish
as you gaze in disbelief across a parched earth
though not a barren one
the planet will continue spinning on its journey
alive with millions of microbes and tiny insects
evolution will continue to develop
a new cycle of varied vibrant life
this time without it fiercest predator
the human species.

Careful!!

In this society, be careful who you speak to, be careful what you say, be careful what your read, be careful what you write. Hardly the hallmarks of a democratic society, but the shape of the one we now live under. Ever more security forces, with ever greater powers, fewer and fewer public facilities for the ordinary people. The state now has at its disposal a raft of legislation to dictate to you when and where you can go about your business, and covid19 was the ramrod that broke the damn and let loose a flood of this type of legislation, though the states were never short of this type of legislation before the pandemic, the just added volumes more of restrictive laws and rules, for their own protection.

The following from Act For Freedom Now:

via: roundrobin.info
At 4am in the morning of 11/11/2021, the ROS [Carabinieri Special Operations] raided the homes of dozens of comrades all over Italy on orders of the PM Comodi in an investigation set off by the usual Nobili and Basilone.
Alfredo, in prison for having shot at Adinolfi, CEO of Ansaldo Nucleare, and for ”operation Scripta Manent”, was notified of yet another pre-trial detention; another comrade is under house arrest, four more were subjected to an obligation to remain in their own area with regular signing.
The main accusation is of having constituted and promoted an association with aims of terrorism, an accusation in particular revolving around the paper “Vetriolo” and some articles published in it.
Linked to this operation, the editors of Roundrobin were notified the same evening that they are under investigation: the accusations (threats, incitement to commit crimes, association with terrorist aims) are linked to the publication of some writings which in the cops’ opinion are signed by some of the comrades under investigation.
As Roundrobin we have always wanted to give space to all anarchist ideas and debate and are proud to have published the writings of the comrades under indictment.
Despite the difficulties due to which the site has been on hold for almost a month, we will now recommence giving space to the contributions that reach us, no matter what the shit servants of power think.
Solidarity to the comrades raided and under investigation.
Always with head held high.
Long live anarchy!
Translated by Act for freedom now!

Ideas.

Some interesting questions, how do we propagate the communities and workplaces with our ideas, how do we make anarchism mainstream, after all that is the aim, is it not? However as long as we rely on the corporate world for our communications and have the mainstream media as a source of information, our ideas will walk the back streets and the lonely lanes, just strange tales to the majority. Of course we don't need to go to San Francisco for such discussions, they can be organised in every town, city and village, we might be pleasantly surprised what comes out of it all.

Anarchistic Media & Pop Culture and Why We Should Make Our Own Media (A Brief Presentation & Participatory Discussion)

Where: Bound Together Books (1369 Haight Street, San Francisco, CA)
When: Friday November 12, 2021 (7 pm - 8:30 pm ish)
Why: ? Not sure, bored ?

"How It Started/How It's Going": Anarchistic Media & Pop Culture and Why We Should Make Our Own Media (A Brief Presentation & Participatory Discussion with Dane Michael)
What is anarchistic media & pop culture ? Is it making weird ass memes with dogs punching cops ? Making our own zines with our own perspectives & stories ? Producing magazines/journals, podcasts, autonomous websites (?), and other decentralized, self-organized media compositions outside the dominant culture ? Starting our own infoshops, autonomous community spaces, non-hierarchical collective bookstores, and/or unique cooperative/collective houses for building affinity-centered social relationships ? Posting up flyers, stickers, and graffiti with counternarratives advocating anti-state, anti-capitalist, and anti-hierarchical culture(s) ?
Or is it, ultimately, none of the above, and just making TikTok dance videos ? Or maybe both ? I don't really fucking know, just throwing out ideas...

Vandalism.

Saturday November 6th, global day of action saw protests, rallies and direct action against this insane system of capitalism across the world. Glasgow, host to the jamboree that goes under the name of Cop-Out-26 Carnival of Illusions, was certainly no exception, with estimates of up to 100,000 marching through the streets of the city voicing the anger at the insanity of the system and the phoney promises made by the privileged pampered few.
However important as it is, climate protests were not the only gripe from the citizens of Glasgow. There is real anger at the vandalism of the Glasgow City Council, as it closes libraries, swimming pools, community centres, and sits on its hands as one of the city's gems slowly rots. Glasgow's Peoples Palace and Winter Gardens has been a well loved and well used facility on Glasgow green since the late 1800's. Now its much loved Winter Gardens is lying derelict, trashed by the city council. The people of Glasgow are angry as they watch this treasured facility slowly rot and fall into ruin. The council can spend millions making way for cafes, bars and restaurants to take over pavements and increase the profits to the owners, but can't find the money to save and protect this loved precious gem on the Green. It was their duty to care for, maintain and protect this type of facility for the people, they have failed miserably. This is nothing short of vandalism and dereliction of duty.

How the Glasgow City Council takes care of the people's assets.

So if you were on the Green on Saturday you would have seen the magnificent protest action built round the theme of "Tie A Yellow Ribbon" Friends of the Peoples Palace, Winter  Gardens and Glasgow Green did in fact tie a yellow ribbon round the entire building with some home truths printed on the banner. Today, more than ever there is so much to be angry about, the trashing of the planet and trashing of the people's facilities. There should be 100,000 people on our streets on a daily basis, it's the only way to make our anger heard and for us to set the agenda.

Some photos to give you a flavour of what the protest was all about.

Storms.

Another bulletin, magazine, serial, call it what you will, but the more the merrier. Our literature should be on ever street corner, every workplace, it should be read, discussed and ideas put into practice. The only way to get people to pick up your ideas is to make them easily available. When people start to really want to change society and they look around for ideas, and they will, if our ideas aren't on the table, then they will not be pick up. Our literature is our message of hope, a well of ideas for that better world for all.

This one one is Storm Warnings, issue 45 (September 15, 2021) :

“Reality has never taken the imagination hostage to such an extent as it has in these last days. Our desires and our wildest dreams are dominated by an invisible catastrophe that threatens and confines us, tying our hands and feet to the shackle of fear. Something critical is being played out right now around the unfolding catastrophe. Ignoring the few Cassandras who have been issuing warnings for decades, we have now moved from abstract ideas to concrete facts. As the current emergency with all its prohibitions demonstrates, what is at stake is not only the possibility of survival, but something much more important: the possibility of living. This means that the catastrophe that affects us today is not so much imminent human extinction – to be avoided, we are reassured from above and below, thanks to an absolute obedience to the experts of social reproduction – but rather the invasive artificiality of an existence whose omnipresence prevents us from imagining the end of the present.”

Septic Isle.

I couldn't help re-posting this comment left by Loam on my article on the Cop-Out-26 Carnival of Illusions. Thanks Loam.

THIS SEPTIC ISLE – by Mike Cashman, inspired by the work of William Shakespeare

This sorry state of things, this septic isle,
This den of crony works, this dreadful mess,
This other pigsty, this great fest’ring pile,
This coven of the knaves that won’t confess.

I speak not of the land and people fine,
But government that’s in place by deceit
That’s had so many reasons to resign
But sent integrity into retreat.

This open flouting of all moral rules
For profit and backhanders they call fees,
This treatment of us as so many fools
They think won’t see the wickedness and sleaze,
Or else will brush it off as “All act thus”,
And tolerate wrongdoing with no qualms,
As p’litical manoeuvres on a bus,
Ignoring all the consequential harms.

This focus just on how much cash they hoard,
With ethical good standards in the bin;
That Ministerial code that’s just ignored,
With blind eye simply turned on any sin.

Determination that there’ll be no lessons learned;
This attitude that rules are not for them,
That if you break the rules they’re overturned,
That no wrongdoing will they e’er condemn.

This land with better past, this much loved land,
That had good reputation far and wide,
Is now leased out, by dirty oft bribed hand,
Like to a criminal that does not hide.

Britain, bound in with the triumphant sea,
Is falling fast and left its soul behind
Contaminated now; as PPE
Has dodgy deals and crony contract signed.

That Britain, with ambitions global claimed,
Hath made a shameful conquest of itself.
And never will the Government be blamed
For damage they have done to wealth and health;
Integrity’s another empty shelf.

….with thanks and apologies to William Shakespeare.
