Lithium.

The corporate greed juggernaut, with assistance from the media propaganda machine and the various states, is pushing the electric vehicle as the the answer to our climate and ecological problems. What they don't mention is that the electric vehicle is dependent on lithium for its super sized batteries and all that this entails. The mining of lithium in such vast quantities is an ecological disaster in its self and also leads to removing indigenous people and/or destroying their land in an unimaginable scale. The electric vehicle requires the same massive destructive production systems as the internal combustion vehicle just changing the engine to one that requires vast amounts of copper and lithium. Both these materials are responsible for unbelievable destruction to our ecosystem.  One thing we can be sure of, as far as the capitalist world is concerned mass production must continue to keep the massive profits flowing into the coffers of the privileged parasite class. They will weave the various illusions of how they are moving to clean ecologically friendly production, while ravaging the Earth on a scale unimaginable a few years or so ago. The only answer to our pending ecological disaster and species demise, is to bring down the capitalist system and its insane economics of profit and perpetual growth.

Carnival.

The closer it gets the more I despair, I am of course referring to Cop-26, or as I prefer to call it, Cop-out-26 Carnival. It is a carnival, a gigantic show, an illusion, those who think that something great will come out of this extravaganza are naive in the extreme and sadly missing the facts. As I stated in a previous blog, the largest oil and gas producing companies have plans to increase production, not to reduce production. Now the BBC has released leak documents that show that governments and large corporations are lobbying the UN to play down the need to move rapidly away from fossil fuels. Another stated strategy for tackling this climate disaster is for richer countries to pay more to poorer countries to help them develop green policies. The leaked documents also show that rich countries are now questioning that strategy.
We are being told by the Mafia in the Kremlin in George Square that it will show case Glasgow. What will happen is we will have a massive lockdown in Glasgow, where the citizens will be restricted and banned from large swaths of their city and their daily lives disrupted. So it will be a case of showcasing our city without the people of the city. The media will have a frenzy of a party chasing after That massive entourage of the rich and powerful and their army of security, who are jetting across the planet to grab a spot of publicity at the carnival. They will spout sounds that they think the people will like to hear, and spout them without a shred of belief in what they are saying. They will do their best to grab centre stage and create the illusion that they are the greenest government on the planet. Then they will all go back to their opulent lives of greed and exploitation, and carry on as if nothing had happened.
The planet is not going to be saved by the rich and powerful, who are doing very well from its destruction. They are not going to listen to your appeals for change, if it means jeopardising their wealth and privileges, they are not going to be moved by your petitions if it means curtailing their opulent lifestyles, and they are quite happy to let your march from A to B, as long as you do it to the their prescribed formula.
It will take massive direct action by the people, an eruption of righteous anger right across the planet, the like of which we have never seen before. The price of quiet appealing and protest marches is the extinction of our species along with millions of others. There is not enough time to pontificate with the destroyers, the plunderers, the exploiters, the minutes are being counted down, your children and grand children are the ones we sacrifice if we continue our appealing to the powers that be.

Cop-26.

Dear friends,

In less than 6 weeks, world leaders will meet in Glasgow at COP26 to discuss our future. We already know that many groups and communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis will not be able to make it to Glasgow this November.

This means that it’s more important than ever to get organised so that our demands for climate justice are loud enough that they can’t be ignored.

Global Day of Action for Climate Justice

On 6th November, movements across the world are coming together to take action – from indigenous struggles to trade unions, from racial justice groups to youth strikers.

The Covid pandemic means that not everyone can travel to Glasgow. That is why on the 6th November, we’re calling for decentralised actions worldwide. Wherever you are in the world, you can help bring climate justice to COP26.

Find your Local Action for Climate Justice

When you find your local action, make sure to click ‘More Info’ and RSVP to be kept up to date. Can’t find an action or local hub near you? We can help you organise one.
Help us build the movement by spreading the word far and wide - see template WhatsApp, email, social media text here.

Want to get involved but not sure where to start?

There are many ways you can get involved in our movement. We need all hands on deck: in workplaces, communities, schools, hospitals and across national borders.  Now is the time to join the fight.
Join us for our webinar to find out how you can get involved - from volunteering to mobilising, from local to international levels. We'll discuss why and how we're getting organised for COP, our plans for and before COP, and the different ways you can get stuck in.

Sun 26 Sep 4 - 6 PM BST - register here
Don’t worry if you can’t make the session. You can re-watch it here afterwards.

COP-OUT26.

Come November 1st.-12th. 2021, Glasgow will host COP26, the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties, the 26th pretend conference on saving the planet. Even though it is glaringly obvious that the destruction of the planet is the direct result of the dominant economic system of capitalism, there will be no voices raised to get rid of capitalism. As they discuss their various half-baked ideas on how to cut emissions, there will be no mention of the world’s largest polluter, no attempt to put the hems on that monumental world polluter, the Pentagon. The world’s largest user, transporter and hoarder of weaponry and all its polluting machinations of war, death and destruction. The gigantic scale of this powerhouse of death and destruction, is by scientific evidence the world’s largest polluter, however, don’t expect COP26 to address this planet killer. Instead we will be told to insulate our homes, drive electric vehicles, which by the way still require all the mining, transportation and pollution from the car production industry as internal combustion cars, plus the extra pollution of massive production of lithium batteries. We will be told to change our life style but still follow the dream of capitalism, continuous growth, continuous consumption. We can expect the planet to spin headlong into oblivion if we sit back and expect the managers and minders of capitalism to supply the answers to environmental destruction.

The answer lies outside the COP26, it lies in our communities, the saving of the ecological systems of the planet lies in our energies and planning getting behind the destruction of the polluters, capitalism and the attendant Pentagon. Any other direction is an illusion, we have to attack and destroy the root cause of our problems, capitalism.

Cruel Farce.

Any thinking person who looks at the various states and their proclamations on green energy and planet climate change, must see it as a farce. How do you clean up the planet's pollution if you don't include the world's largest polluter  in the equation? There is no doubt that the Pentagon with its massive war mongering budget is the world's largest polluter, but is never taken into account when talks of cleaning up the planet are taking place. Obviously the war mongers don't want anything to impede their murderous drive to maintain their power, wealth and privileges, even if it means the destruction of the all life on the planet.

 The following from Roots Action:

As a result of final hour demands made by the United States during negotiation of the 1997 Kyoto treaty, military carbon emissions are exempted from climate negotiations.
But the U.S. military is the largest institutional consumer of fossil fuels in the world and a key contributor to climate collapse!
U.S. climate envoy designate, John Kerry, is right; the Paris Agreement is “not enough.”
We're organizing around this new petition:
To: John Kerry and the U.S. Congress
             From: ---- -----
All emissions need to be included in order to justly meet international pledges made to protect the earth's climate. There must be no more exception for military pollution.

Sustainable Green Or Suicide?

It would be a fool or a corporate boss, that claims that climate change is not happening and what changes there are, is not down to human activity. Those same fools would also deny that this activity is a threat to the existence of the human species, along with most other species. The body of evidence keeps piling up proving that we humans, if we continue with our present economic system, are committing suicide and in the not too distant future.
Despite the evidence, the scientific data, the detailed research, pointing to this inevitable out come of our present way of living, states and corporate bodies continue to pursue the insanity of the illusion of perpetual growth and ever increasing production. For the system to survive it must push for greater production and ever increasing consumption, without these two foundations of this economic system the whole edifice would collapse. The powers that be will do everything in their power to see that that doesn't happen, they have too much power and too many privileges they will defend, even if that defence sends us all into oblivion.
It is obvious that the present economic system cannot be allowed to continue, if we want the human species to continue, but the destruction of the system will not come from the managers of that system. It is up to us, the ordinary people of this world to start and try to live outside the economic madness that prevails today. Small steps, small actions, must became large sustainable efforts with the one aim, to bring down this crazy economic march to oblivion. We humans should do well to remember, spaceship Earth has no escape capsule.
The following from Enough Is Enough:

It is now one week ago that some people occupied the Osterholz forest in Wuppertal (German territory). This week we watched the deers galloping through the forest. Watching the frogs moving through Chalk Town in wet weather conditions. We were also allowed to listen to eagle owls when they go hunting in the dark. And there were so many great people visiting us. We had many conversations about ecology, the destructive way of life of the old world and how we can build another world. It was an inspiring week.

Originally published by Jeder Baum Zählt. Translated by Enough 14.

The old world has trouble saying goodbye. It sends scouts at the fence of the Oetelshofen company and human beings in uniform threatening with pepper spray and police dogs. For us this is not a surprise, it only increases our determination to fight for this forest. Although climate change clearly shows that the time of the old world is over, many of the humans who are moving in this old world do not seem to be able to say goodbye to their prefabricated way of thinking. It’s mostly about cost reduction and the logic of profit. And “investment security”. As long as it doesn’t cost too much, there can still be a little environmental protection. But we won’t be able to stop climate change this way.
Capitalism has brought the old world into the situation in which it is today. The destructive force that destroyed most of the primeval forests in Europe is working hard to destroy the last few remnants of primeval forest in Europe. Ikea sends devastating greetings from the Carpathians. But the old world also imports the goods for which the Amazon is uprooted. Brazil’s President Bolsonaro is called upon to stop deforestation, but at the same time trade agreements are signed that will fuel the same deforestation from “the lungs of the earth”. The CDU and many other representatives of the old world send their greetings.
Newer forests are also threatened by deforestation, such as the Osterholz forest. The old world is ruthlessly pumping out groundwater, whether for open-cast mining in the Rhineland or the limestone quarry in Osterholz. It releases a lot of CO2 by burning lime and using fossil fuels such as lignite. The old world produces and produces. Lots of these products damage the earth’s ecosystem for overproduction. So for nothing. But the old world doesn’t care, the most important thing is to earn Euros.
Today (August 22) humans of the political party CDU want to “inform” various media representatives and others in the Osterholz forest. At 16:30, to be exact. The CDU Wuppertal believes that environment and business can only go together. In their thought pattern of yesterday’s eternity, they apparently have not yet understood that it is the capitalist logic of profit that shows the old world its limits. Climate change cannot be negotiated with, the earth demands that we humans act consistently or the earth acts itself and will put an end to this capitalist madness. Many people will come to the forest today to make this clear once again.
The new world will produce on basis of needs. In the New World everyone can take part and ecological considerations will always come first. Not the logic of profit. That is the way we have to go. It will not be painless, we will have to do without some things. But if we open our minds and free ourselves from the thinking pattern of the old world, we will realize that we do not need many of the “products” that are advertised in the old world.
We will continue to enjoy our time together with all other living beings in the Osterholz forest and fight for this forest. Let’s move into a new world!

Out Of The Mouths Of Babes!!!

"Out of the mouths of babes", I think the adult population should hang their heads in shame, at the state of the planet we are handing the next generation. The youth of the world are showing us how it should be done, From one concerned young girl in Sweden, we now have a world wide movement of youngsters taking to the streets against the insanity of our economic destructive system. The cause they are fighting for is one that none of us can escape, it is the survival of the human race.
We have to give these young people our unflinching support and take to the streets in solidarity with them. This is not a fun thing with a bunch of kids dodging school, these are intelligent concerned young people who are showing us the way. It is not just a local phenomenon, this is a world wide protest against the rule of our lives by the greedy corporate and financial juggernaut. A call for sanity and a stop to the rape and plunder of our planet just to feed a small cabal of rich and powerful people. What are we doing to our next generation when they can make statements like the one by the young Swedish girl who started this protest, Miss Thunberg,   "I want you to panic. I want you to feel the fear I feel every day." We are handing our youngsters a disintegrating planet and a future of fear. We can still do something about this poisoned legacy we are hand our children and grandchildren. We can join them on the streets across the globe, and take control of our and their future. Of course my own personal view is that the planet is not dying, but the planet is being murdered, and we know who by.
Glasgow was no exception in this concern for the future, the young people of our city took to the streets on Friday and joined that world wide movement for sanity and a future. The banners that festoon the protest were loud proclamations of the truth that needs to be grasped, "Change the politics not the climate" and the truth that our "lords and Masters" view with blinkers on, "Stop denying our earth is dying", and a blatant truth that we should all grasp,  "If the world were a bank, it would have been saved." Who can deny any of these statements, from the mouths of our youth.
Some photos from Glasgow, thanks Keith.

The Only Home We Have.

Regarding the previous post and the comment made by Loam, I have to answer it this way, as at the moment I don't seem to be able to comment or reply to comments on my own blog, Ah the wonders of the internet.

Thanks for the comment Loam,  I agree wholeheartedly, the title was more of trying to grab attention, to the fact that we all need to play our part to save where we live, for our sake. (I suppose I could have put it better.) There is no doubt that this little rock will continue to spin, the sun will continue to rise and set, many, many centuries after we have decimated its ecology and disappeared from history. We all need to play our part in trying to preserve the only home we have. We should do well to remember, "Spaceship Earth has no escape capsule".
Now two wee poems that I hope, put my position more clearly.

Tomorrow’s World!

See the fat cat’s grinning smile
as Corporate Capitalism runs amok,
Chasing profit as it goes
firing millions of ordinary folk.
Raping and polluting land after land,
starting bloody wars.
Toxic waste, sweat shop wages
and oil covered sea shores.
Where have all the flowers gone
beneath this ozone free sky?
To join the birds, to join the fox
on yonder plutonium field to die.
Mercury fish, strontium lamb
trees that never show a leaf,
radio active beaches, toxic streams
good lean BSE-antibiotic beef.
In a world of epidemic, plague and famine
it’s bottled water and chemical food.
Of course, it’s all tested on rats and mice
so you know its got to be good.
Beneath a sky that’s always black,
hurricane winds and endless drought,
its oxygen masks for the toxic air,
corporate profit’s what its all about.

Grand Plans

In this world where we serve oblivion
with a blind pride and sure conviction
creating plans to land a man on Mars
grandiose schemes to conquer the stars
eyes on horizons ever further afield
believing, to us the universe will yield.
Yet here on Earth we fail to see
a chaotic world of human debris,
our magnificent results thus far
a planet dying from a human scar,
oblivious that our plans sublime
are mere litter scattered in space and time.
