Capitalism And Mental Health.

Although this video came from  our friends just up the road, I just came across it yesterday on arrezafe. Great work comrades, keep up those Libertarian Socialist Rants.
Published on Mar 22, 2016
Far from being a far-fetched pipe dream that human beings could never live under, pockets of anarchistic self-activity are what keep us sane in a profoundly insane world. This video mainly deals with how the capitalist system exerts massive amounts of pressure on individuals and gives the average person a million different things to worry about. I mainly talk about anxiety and depression here, although I fully acknowledge that there's so much more to cover than just that, both in terms of mental illness and in terms of societal analysis.

Unbroken Anarchism--A Crime!!!

The varieties the of ways the state will conjure up to keep incarcerated those it feels are a threat to its power and control, knows no limit. A comrade is continuing to be held in a Swiss prison because, "his anarchism is unbroken". It appears that psychiatrists will only consider him for parole, if he distances himself from his ideology. A bit like the church during the Spanish inquisition. The brutality might not be as physical, but just as vindictive.
This from Contra Info:

For some time the penal system is being aggressively colonized by psychiatry and psychology in Zurich as in prisons elsewhere. The report of the forensic psychiatric department from 31.3.2015 provides a “risk-oriented sanctions enforcement” assessment, a new evaluating development, since the report explicitly uses psychiatric argumentation only and for the first time formulates specific “recommendations”. Urbaniok’s psychiatry distributes contact prohibitions – defines political distancing or rather political renunciation as a requirement for conditional release. The big word is and remains the “crime-promoting ideology”!
We cite from the report’s controversial points:
• The legal prognosis is supposedly bad, since “he continuously strongly and actively delves in his ideology and is in contact with relevant comrades” which “can be seen in his statements as well as in his networking with the scene”.
• “It has been observed that MC’s attitude is solidified and imprisonment has not initiated a process of change.”
• “It may very well be required from a person like MC that he reflects on his statements – knowing of his influence and possible consequences – and that he is able to recognize statements of a more or less inciting content. To reduce the risk MC would have to distance himself from his conviction for which currently no evidence can be found” since he “is not willing to do any work concerning his crimes”.

Punk Muslim.

Not an everyday sight, but one that would be great to see catch on, a punk Muslim. I saw this on El Lokal, a wonderful autonomous centre in Barcelona, that I visited a few years back, but sadly I don't speak or read Spanish.

We Can Withdraw Our Consent.

The state at first glance, holds all the power, it has the best of repressive gear, it has all the organised institutions of repression, but we should never forget we have the numbers and the solidarity. We are only governable by consent, we can at any time, withdraw that consent. The state is aware of this situation, hence its attack on those most vociferous in the demands for freedom from that state. Anarchist don't hide their intentions, to work towards a life free from the burden and repression of the state. Hence the state's attack on those of that ilk. Who will be next?

HARASSED! CHARGED! IMPRISONED! FOR BEING ANARCHISTS!
by ‘operación Pandora’ in Spain

‘Un movimiento que olvida a sus presos está condenado a la derrota’
‘A movement that forgets its prisoners is doomed to defeat’

On 16/12/2014 Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan “independent” police ‘squaddies’) stormed 14 homes and social centers in Barcelona and Madrid, destroying or stealing everything of value. Without concrete accusations and with the greatest secrecy, 11 anarchists (7 women and 4 men) were sent to a High Court in Madrid. 4 were released two days later with charges - and 7 stayed in prison until they were eventually released on extortionate bail of €3000 each on 30/01/2015, one is a member of the CNT-AIT Union. The anarchists continue to endure harassment, charges and secretive Court proceedings because of their criticism and opposition to capitalism and the state.

When The State Feels Threatened, You're All Suspects.

We should pay heed to the "Operation Pandora" that is being played out in Spain, and also the part played in the lead up process, by that babbling brook of bullshit, the mainstream media. It is a formula that will be used by other European states, as they flounder in the face of growing public unrest and anger.  We are governed by consent, however, when we start to withdraw that consent, we are governed by an iron fist, as the state will not willingly relinquish its power. As our burden increases, and our struggle intensifies, the state will remove its kid-gloves and don the knuckledusters. The state can only survive by our subservience. Our desire to think for ourselves, is a noxious gas the the state apparatus. Solidarity knows no borders, solidarity is the winning weapon.
An extract from an article  by Anarcho-syndicalist:
The State is hardening. The proof: the attempt on the part of the Ministry of the Interior to create a file on people who are arbitrarily classified as “suspects”, and the passage of a Law of Civil Security that gives the police carte blanche to repress any movement that protests in the streets. As opposed to those who propose constitutional reforms, or even to “democratize” the State in order to save it, there is a political sector that seeks to armor it with all kinds of repressive measures. Behind the walls of this fortress the majority of the real powers that have a great deal to lose in this crisis have taken refuge. They are beginning to panic, and that is why the State has embarked upon a change of course; with this goal in mind it is preparing the ground. The communications media were the first to lend a hand in this task, long before the police and the judiciary. For quite a while now fantastic stories about mysterious international visitors, the messengers of anarchy, as well as other tales of the same alarmist type, have been circulating, stories that have a tendency to criminalize the only means that exist which are opaque to Power (an opacity that is itself a scandal): squatted buildings, libertarian cultural centers and self-managed collectives.

An Open Internet, Or A Corporate Controlled Internet?

An urgent appeal from Open Media:
Here’s the situation: Obama himself is in secretive meetings with key political figures and lobbyists in Asia to lock the Trans-Pacific Partnership’s Internet censorship plan into place.
We know from leaked documents that this secretive plan will censor your use of the Internet and strip away your rights.1 If finalized, this plan would force ISPs to act as “Internet Police” monitoring our Internet use, censoring content, and removing whole websites.2
It will give media conglomerates centralized control over what you can watch and share online.
This is huge: covering 40% of the global economy, the TPP is being called a legal “blueprint” for the rest of the world.[3] Once key leaders finalize TPP Internet censorship plans today it will be used to globalize censorship across the world. You will be affected and this may be our only chance to stop it.
Our attention-grabbing message will shine a light on their secret plan and will make clear to Washington lobbyists that the Internet community will never accept the TPP’s secrecy or censorship. The more who speak out, the larger our projection will become, and the more people we can reach.
With every voice that is added to our call, a donor will contribute to make Stop The Secrecy projection in Washington bigger and brighter. We’ve stalled them before and we can kill this censorship plan if we act together at this critical moment. The bureaucrats and lobbyists think they can ram through this damaging binding plan behind your back and without your consent. Will you let them get away with it, John?
Thank you for being a part of history,
Steve, Josh, Eva, and David, on behalf of your OpenMedia.org team
P.S., If the TPP censorship plan goes through, the Internet as we know it will change forever. We’d be left with an Internet that’s far more expensive, censored, and policed. We know we can stop this - but we need to act right now. Can we count on you to stand with us, John?

There are also reports of several others countries being added to the TPP once it is finalized.

Glasgow's Private Parks!!!

We pay them our tax money to dream up this shit, we must be mad. Every avenue of your life must be under their control. You're photographed everywhere you go, but that's not enough, you have to be under strict control when you are not being photographed. Rampant authoritarianism, control freaks at the helm, society gone insane.
Please join this campaign: http://chn.ge/1oHE3iL

Glasgow City Council is proposing to bring in rules relating to the Parks and public spaces of Glasgow. While it is important to preserve the outdoor spaces of Glasgow for future generations, the proposed Park Management Rules would give the council the right to refuse entry to the parks of some of the most prolific users of Glasgow's open spaces. These proposed rules include:
No groups of more than 20 people  being able to gather in the park without the written authorisation of the Director. If you wanted to play football, hold a fitness club, walking club or children's group forget it.
Dogs to be kept on a lead no more than 2m, and no one is allowed to excercise any more than 3 dogs. If you own 4 or more dogs, go to dog obedience classes or want to exercise your dog off the lead, forget it.
All vehicles in parks require the prior written consent of the Director. If you want to drive to the rowing clubs at Glasgow Green, you'll need written consent.

Some other activities they want to outlaw are:

Play or practice any organised sport - I thought we were encouraging this? What will the Commonwealth Games legacy be?
No person shall, except with the prior written consent of the Director, operate any Radio - don't want you enjoying music during the 2 days of sunshine we have.
Any person or organisation seeking to use any park or park building for outdoor educational provision, child care provision, nursery or kindergarten - don't want those kids getting any fresh air now.
The parks have always been self policed and have survived for over 100 years. Please let common sense prevail on this one and object to Glasgow City Council curbing our enjoyment of our open spaces.

The Ever Threatening Presence Of Big Brother.

This information and appeal from OpenMedia:

Now we know why the TPP Internet censorship plan has been kept so secret.
Wikileaks just made public secret documents that show how industry lobbyists are trying to impose an extreme Internet censorship scheme.1
We knew it was going to be bad. We knew it could mean that entire websites and families could be kicked off the Internet. We knew it could lock out the deaf and the blind.
But the TPP Internet censorship plan is even worse than we thought. The leaked documents reveal that:
  • U.S. President Obama is trying to impose laws that would clamp down on free expression, compel your Internet service provider to track your Internet usage, and impose extreme penalties for everyday online activities.
  • The TPP would create secret transnational Internet censorship courts. It could override national courts and national laws.2
Yeah, it’s that bad. This leak could change everything -- but only if people know about it. We need to raise a loud public call at this unique moment:
THEN, SHARE THIS WEBPAGE WITH EVERYONE VIA EMAIL: https://openmedia.org/censorship
The leaked documents have revealed that the United States government and lobbyists are nearly alone in pushing the most extreme parts of the TPP’s Internet censorship plan.3
However, the leaked draft also lets us know which countries oppose these extreme new rules. And here’s the good news: many countries are pushing back.4
The more voices we join together, the stronger the message we can send. It’s that simple. Your action today will make a difference.
Thank you. We can do this,
Steve and Josh, on behalf of your OpenMedia.org team
P.S. If you’re still reading this, it means you care. This plan is worse than our worst fears. Your small team here at OpenMedia.org are working hard to make sure people know the truth about what’s going on. Can you do your part by chipping in what you can today towards our campaign?

The Leader Has Spoken.

The following is a statement that I think a very large segment of the population might agree with, "saddened that the Jews, who suffered unbelievable levels of persecution during the Holocaust, could within a few years of liberation from the death camps, be inflicting atrocities on Palestinians in the new State of Israel and continue to do so on a daily basis in the West Bank and Gaza".
It was spoken by a LibDem MP, David Ward, However, the Holocaust Educational Trust. thought fit to complain to the LibDem leader Nick Clegg, who withdrew the party whip from the MP. Is this a case of the LibDem party leader being ignorant of what is happening in that part of the world, or was it a case of him bowing to a powerful Israeli lobby group? Either way it shows the uselessness of that establishment, The Westminster Houses of Hypocrisy and Corruption, where an elected representative can be silenced by an unelected bunch with vested interests, and where a widely held opinion can be silenced by the authority of the "party leader".
Democracy can never be born through the party system, party lines throttle individual opinions. However capitalism thrives in the party system, the corporate world simply buys the parties and things are shaped to suit that corporate world. Any hierarchical system is an anathema to democracy. Democracy demands horizontalism, equality among individuals, the right to voice your opinion free from the over-riding power of "the leader". As long as the people support a party political system, the longer our freedom will be in chains.

Beware, Big Brother Has Arrived.

You walk, you pause, you look, you take a photograph, your are being watched, you are now a suspect. Your behaviour is slightly out of the normal, the cameras have picked up on this, you may be questioned, your house could be searched. This is not Orwell's 1984, this is the UK today. To stay out of "their" radar, walk at a steady pace, just look straight ahead, don't linger, stay in the centre of the pavement, be a clone of the others. Individuality, eccentricity, must be shunned if you want to retain what is left of your privacy.
Every city in the country is littered with hi-tec cameras, backed up by extremely sophisticate software, you are possible suspects, possible criminals, you all must be watched at all times and in all circumstances. Knowing your every move makes you so much easier to be controlled.
It can't be a free society when my every move is monitored by people I don't know, for purposes I have no knowledge of, and I have no say in that monitoring. We are indeed in the Orwellian society and most of the public are completely unaware. The cameras just sit there, morning and night, day in day out, watching analysing, trying to fit you into a pattern, marking you out if you don't fit. This Western "democracy" today.

Defend The Right To Peaceful Protest.

Under the state apparatus the right to freedom of speech is always liable to attack, the state would rather we were subservient and obedient. When people start to object to how they are being treated, that's when the state takes off the gloves and it becomes bare-knuckle capitalism with repression and intimidation the tools to get you back in line and obedient. One of Glasgow's past fights to defend the right to freedom of public assemble, was the fight for freedom of speech on Glasgow Green, a fight that lasted from 1922 to 1932, and here we are now in 2013 having once again to fight for the right to public assemble, to voice our concerns on the way our society is heading. It is by continual vigilance and struggle that we hold onto what little freedoms we have, under the present system, they are continually under threat, once gone, the fight to get them back is a much harder struggle than defending them.

Defend The Right To Peaceful Protest.

An open letter from Glasgow against Atos to all Political groups / parties
And Trade Unionists.
DEFEND THE RIGHT TO PEACEFUL PROTEST.
If you are someone who has been involved in a protest or demonstration in the past few years you may have noticed an increase in the use of certain tactics by the Police.
The brutal tactic of “Kettling”, - the enforced containment of groups of people, is used by Police routinely despite widespread public and legal condemnation of the dangers of this tactic. The Police often use riot shields and employ mounted officers in these situations in which people are corralled and crushed together sometimes for hours on end.
Forward Intelligence Teams collect information and photograph people attending demonstrations or protests. These photographs are compiled on “Spotter Cards” which are then used to identify individuals.
At every protest you can be sure to see at least one mobile CCTV unit monitoring the crowd and possibly a helicopter hovering overhead.
These are not tactics that are reserved for dealing with groups which promote racial hatred such as the Scottish Defence League, but tactics that the police are using increasingly against any group of ordinary people who are voicing their concerns about issues which matter to them and their families.
Ordinary citizens such as environmental campaigners, disabled rights groups, families affected by cuts in public services must have the right to articulate their grievances without interference from the Police. They must be allowed the right of free speech and peaceful protest without attempts by the police to criminalise these basic democratic rights.
The journalist George Monbiot reported on the misuse of police power during the Kingsnorth Climate camp Campaign. Two female protestors were attacked, arrested and remanded in prison for four days. As George Monbiot commented; “Anyone who seeks political change is treated as if they were an enemy of the public interest”, and, “that the police are turning activism into a crime”. (Guardian 22nd June 2009).
The human rights lawyer Michael Mansfield Q.C. remarked that; “Legitimate and peaceful mass demonstrations is being policed off the streets. Increasingly heavy –handed tactics are being employed along with the potentially dangerous practice of kettling or corralling. It is part of a general policy by successive authoritarian governments. They brook no opposition and contrive a compliant society upon which they can wreak havoc with their elitist economic policies”. (Guardian 10th March 2013).
During a recent trade visit to Delhi, David Cameron said of the massacre of hundreds of Indians who were protesting against oppressive laws and were shot by British troops in 1919, “We must ensure that the United Kingdom stands up for the right to peaceful protest anywhere in the world”, (The Telegraph 20 February 2013).
When David Cameron said anywhere in the world – he meant of course anywhere except here! He doesn’t mind democracy and free speech as long as it’s somewhere else. And the politicians are quite happy to give the police a free hand to maintain their position of power and privilege.
We must stop this misuse of police power. It is a scandal that ordinary citizens are being deprived of their democratic right to protest against injustice.
We cannot stand by and watch this happen.
We are not posing a threat to democracy - the police are!
We are not breaking the law - the police are!
To this end we call on all individuals with a concern for free speech and who value the democratic right to protest, all political groups and parties, all trade unionists, all of our fellow citizens suffering repression to join us in condemnation of police harassment and intimidation.
Although there are many divisions in society at the moment, this is something that affects all of us. We have to be united on this, - do not fall for the police’s divide and rule tactics.
The right to free speech and peaceful protest is the mark of a free society.
As Martin Luther King so eloquently said; “Freedom is never given voluntarily by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed”.
Let us remember this, and unite against those who oppose free speech!

“Whether the mask is labeled fascism, democracy, or dictatorship of the proletariat, our great adversary remains the apparatus—the bureaucracy, the police, the military. Not the one facing us across the frontier of the battle lines, which is not so much our enemy as our brothers' enemy, but the one that calls itself our protector and makes us its slaves. No matter what the circumstances, the worst betrayal will always be to subordinate ourselves to this apparatus and to trample underfoot, in its service, all human values in ourselves and in others.”

The Right to Peaceful Protest.

Here on the streets of Glasgow, the same streets that John MacLean, Guy Aldred, Willie McDougal and many others, held meetings and protests attended by hundreds, we are seeing the authorities  trying to stamp out that tradition of peaceful public protest. If they succeed, where is your freedom to voice your concerns and anger at injustice?
A peaceful protest held in Gordon Street Glasgow, on February 22, saw two young men arrested for no more than using a megaphone to get the attention of the passing public. How often have you walked through our city streets and some preacher has been belting out his "message" through a sound system and no large police formation and no arrests? The authorities only send in their minders, the police, if it is a political protest, they can't have the people voicing their concerns publicly, others might listen.
There is  campaign to right this wrong, to hold onto our right to peaceful public protest. It is our city, our streets, our right to freedom of expression.
