If you bribe government officials to
come up with the decision you want, I imagine you would end up on
some charge, like perverting the course of justice, or corruption, or
bribing a public official. But what if it is the government
department that is doing the bribing? I have no doubt it would be
re-classified as incentivising staff or improving their conditions.
Well that is what is going on with those officers who job it is to
assess whether asylum seekers should be sent home.

Official guidance obtained by the Guardian shows that immigration staff have been set a target of winning 70% of tribunal cases in which asylum seekers are appealing against government decisions that they should leave the UK. These officers are also incentivised by Home Office reward schemes involving gift vouchers, cash bonuses and extra holidays.
