Who are the Oppressors?

Thought for the day.
Who are the oppressors? The few: the King, the capitalist, and a handful of other overseers and superintendents.

Who are the oppressed? The many: the nations of the earth; the valuable personages; the workers; they that make the bread that the soft-handed and idle eat.
Mark Twain.

  1. All are oppressed and all are oppressors? - to very much varying degrees (but I think there is a most important point here?)

  2. I personally believe that sort of statement whitewashes over the real divisions in this type of society. Blame everybody for the ills of this society and we will all end up wearing horse hair shirts and beating ourselves with leather thongs. Within this capitalist society there are clear oppressors and clearly oppressed. What ever nuances of oppression appear in personal relations is a matter for a different type of discussion.
